This Thanksgiving, we are grateful for our wonderful students, dedicated staff, supportive families, and the community that makes HMA such a special place to learn and grow.

As we celebrate this season of gratitude, may we be reminded of the importance of kindness, respect, compassion, and the joy of learning together. In the spirit of Montessori, we celebrate not only the knowledge we gain but also the meaningful connections we build and the positive impact we make in the lives of others.

From our HMA family to yours, we wish you a warm and joyful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments with those who matter most.

Happy Thanksgiving! 🍁

More about beautiful celebration of culture, connection, and community! 💛

HMA students, staff, and families came together to celebrate this meaningful feather exhibition, inspired by Cree teachings shared by Indigenous Knowledge Keeper Crystal Lund, alongside local artist Sonia Burke-smith and emerging Indigenous artist Lisa Fountain.

Each student created a unique mixed-media feather representing their cultural background, bringing together many stories in one beautiful collaborative artwork.

At HMA, we celebrate diversity, honour Indigenous perspectives, and embrace the connections that make our community stronger. 🧡

Many feathers, many stories, one community!

A Beautiful Celebration of Art, Culture & Learning!
Hillcrest Montessori Academy was proud to welcome families and community members to our Alberta Cultural Day Project Art Exhibition.
Our HMA students proudly shared their artwork and creative expressions as part of the “Under One Sun” project, celebrating the idea that although we may come from different backgrounds and perspectives, we are all connected.
We are grateful to artists Sonia Burke-smith and Rosetta JoAnn, who worked alongside community facilitators and our HMA community to bring this meaningful project to life. Through their collaboration with Hillcrest Montessori Academy, Under One Sun creates space to celebrate diversity, connection, Truth and Reconciliation, and Indigenous perspectives through student and community artwork.
This special experience provided our students with an opportunity to learn, create, share, and reflect on the importance of respect, empathy, understanding, and meaningful connections.
We are proud of our students for sharing their creativity and being part of a project that encourages us to listen, learn, connect, and grow together.
Together, we learn. Together, we connect. Together, we grow. 🌿🎨

The HMA Robotics Program is designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving through hands-on learning.

In our robotics program, students designed, built, and programmed three working machines: a soccer bot, a four-wheel-drive rover, and a Mars rover. Piece by piece, they built, coded, problem-solved, and kept going until their machines came to life.

This is what Montessori learning looks like: hands-on, student-led, and built through trial and error. The soccer bot is still working on its footwork, but the Mars rover is ready for launch.

And there are more exciting builds on the way!

Interested in hands-on, future-ready learning for your child? Register at Hillcrest Montessori Academy today.

A fantastic first tennis class at HMA!

Our HMA Elementary students were excited to step onto the court for their very first tennis class! From the first warm-up to practicing new skills and getting their first rallies going, our students brought wonderful energy, enthusiasm, and smiles to the court.

It was a great opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, stay active, and have fun while discovering the exciting world of tennis.

A big thank you to coach Carolina for making the first class such a positive and engaging experience! We can’t wait to see our students continue to learn, grow, and enjoy the game throughout the session.

There’s lots more fun on the court to come! ❤️
