Earlier this week at the Rainy Lake Campus, we held our fourth and final Explore Paramedicine camp! Throughout the summer, we welcomed 24 participants to explore the paramedic profession and build practical skills in responding to emergencies.

Through hands-on activities, participants learned about scene safety, airway, breathing, circulation, CPR, choking, bleeding control, and vital signs, and explored paramedic equipment and ambulances alongside local working professionals.

These camps are about more than exploring a career in paramedicine. They are about sharing knowledge, building confidence, and helping to build stronger, safer communities.

This summer, we were thrilled to welcome 93 kids to our Rainy Lake and Kenora campuses for five fun-filled summer camps! From creating to designing, building, and exploring, campers had the opportunity to discover something new in each of our unique programs:

Our Makerspaces are all about turning ideas into reality. With access to creative spaces, hands-on tools, and opportunities to learn, students, staff, and community members can bring their imaginations to life.

Gi-wigwaas ojiimaanikemin, we built a birch bark canoe together! Last week, Anishinaabemodaa - Waking Up Ojibwe's Gidakiiminaan Gagiikwewinan (Land-Based Teachings) Program worked to build a birch bark canoe at the Rainy Lake Campus, and even tested it out on the water!

Do you have a child aged 12-16 who would like to learn to canoe? On August 24 & 25, Anishinaabemodaa - Waking Up Ojibwe is partnering with Paddle Canada to deliver Introduction to Tandem Lake Canoeing!

In this two-day course, beginner paddlers will learn tandem canoeing in calm, sheltered waters, using basic strokes and land-and-water rescue techniques.

This June, we celebrated a historic milestone with a luncheon and certificate presentation for the inaugural class of our Emergency Management curriculum.

As the very first students to complete this one-of-a-kind course, these learners have helped make history. Their dedication, resilience, and willingness to be part of something new have laid the foundation for a program that will benefit future generations.

In partnership with Indigenous Services Canada (ISC), we developed this high school course to equip students with practical emergency management skills, nationally recognized certifications, and hands-on experience to help build stronger, more resilient First Nations communities in the face of natural emergencies like wildfires, flooding, and more.

Congratulations to our very first Emergency Management graduates! We can't wait to see the impact you'll make in your communities. We’re launching our new Emergency Management curriculum province-wide in the coming months. Interested in learning more? Email [email protected].
