We couldn't have asked for a better Monday to start our 2026/27 school year!

The sun was shining as new students gathered at the Black Watch Bistro for Buddy Breakfast, while parents mingled over coffee at Aspen Lodge, which was hosted by POSTS. We also captured our annual Alumni Generations photo, with a record number of community members joining us!

The day flew by as summer stories were shared, old friends reconnected, new friendships began, and we came together to "ring in" the new school year.

Wishing everyone a wonderful year ahead!

The countdown is on: Monday, every Spartan is back on campus.

This week, our newest students got a head start with Taste of STS.

Part summer camp, part orientation, and a lot of fun, with games, field trips, time with teachers, new friends, and plenty of chances to explore campus and figure out where everything is before the first day.

Our staff got in on the fun too with a House event that brought plenty of friendly competition and Spartan spirit to campus.

Can't wait to see you!

A new school year doesn’t begin on the first day of classes. It begins in the conversations, planning, and connections that happen before students arrive.

This week, our senior leadership team gathered to reflect, align, and plan for the year ahead, while new employees connected with mentors and got to know our community and campus.

When your morning meeting involves fresh air, warm sun, and a beautiful view of the foothills in bloom, you know it’s a great day.

A year of dreaming, fundraising, and community generosity has come to life at Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School (STS) with the opening of the Rose Athletic Park, a new high-performance athletic facility built to support student-athletes and sport in the broader Foothills region.

Located on the school’s 200-acre campus, the park will serve as the new home for the STS Spartans soccer, rugby, and track and field teams. The facility will also be available to the wider community for sports rentals, tournaments, interschool competitions, training sessions, and summer camps.

Founded in 1972, STS has been rooted in the Foothills community for more than 50 years. The opening of the park reflects that long-standing connection, creating new opportunities for students while extending the impact of this investment beyond the school community.

The project was funded entirely by private donors. Hundreds of STS families, alumni, past parents, employees, and friends contributed to the fundraising campaign, with no government funding involved in its construction.

“‘Built for community, by community’ has become the defining message of the project,” said Dr. Carol Grant-Watt, STS Head of School. “The Rose Athletic Park reflects a significant investment in young people, wellness, and the future of sport in our region.”

The facility is named in honour of Mike Rose and Sue Riddell-Rose, lead donors and long-time members of the STS community. Mike Rose serves as Chair of the STS Board of Governors, and he and Sue are parents of three STS alumni.

“This project was about creating something lasting — something that would serve students, athletes, families, and the wider community,” said Mike Rose. “We are proud to be part of a community that believes in dreaming big and getting things done.”
