I just have to share, why I LOVE what I do. For almost 20 years I worked in Special Education and the last 10 of it was so extremely frustrating. Special Education in my board took a huge shift and EAs were no longer in the classroom working with the teachers. Educational Assistants job description changed from Education, to safety, feeding and toileting. What that meant was the kiddos with ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, LD, High functioning Autism and the list goes on, were not getting the Educational Assistance that they deserved. When I left my career due to injuries and became a Certified Life Coach I knew I wanted to specialize in ADHD/ADD. This brings me to why I LOVE my career. I had the most amazing 20 something in my office today. She is one of many that have sat in my office now in College or University and are getting more support there than they ever did in elementary or high school. I am so thrilled when these students find me because sometimes it's the smallest of strategies that help them. ADHD is not a label it truly is a SUPER POWER. Teaching ADHDers to find their POWER is why I LOVE my job !!!

If this day finds you planning the perfect date or celebrating a special night full of fun with your kids, remember to take time for YOU !!! It is easy to shower others with love and attention, but it is important to care for yourself the way you do for others.
Sometimes that is easier said than done. ADHders often struggle with loving and accepting themselves for who they are. They are passionate and generous by nature, unfortunately, many hide behind their feelings of emptiness, disappointment, sadness, and self-blame. This Valentine's, my wish is for people with ADHD to love and appreciate themselves for ALL their worth. Allow yourself to LOVE who you are as much as you give love to everyone else. Happy Valentines ADHDers

Raising awareness and understanding about ADHD in the Workplace

ADHD is not just a childhood disorder; many adults are not getting their diagnosis until much later in life. Most are struggling in their careers due to their symptoms and are afraid to disclose their condition to their employers. As an employer, helping your employees with ADHD be successful in your workplace is very important to both the employee as well as your company. It can be as simple as raising awareness and understanding about ADHD. It is so important to have discussions about workplace accommodation and changes. Sometimes it is small changes that will help the ADHD employee.
The Benefits of Supporting Employees with ADHD

Supporting your employees with ADHD to be successful in the workplace is a strategy to create a more inclusive and productive workplace that can benefit both employees and the organization. By providing information about ADHD to staff, encouraging open discussions, leading by example, and supporting accommodations for employees when requested, employers can ensure everyone can contribute and reach their full potential.

Why ADHD employees are Beneficial to your company

Individuals with ADHD often have energetic drive and can hyperfocus on tasks that are driven by their interests. They're often creative, able to think holistically and make great leaders because of their resilience. With these strengths, people with ADHD make a great addition to any workforce.

You love your job, your coworkers are pleasant, and your boss doesn’t make impossible demands. Yet your ADHD symptoms make it hard to keep papers organized while you’re juggling project details. Workplace noise and the busy atmosphere distract you, and you can’t get your work done in a reasonable amount of time.

Approaching your boss with accommodations that will help you have more positive working days is a struggle for most. Your boss may give suggestions, but not every person with ADD/ADHD suffers from the same symptoms. It is always best to let your boss know what you need to have better success. Most of the accommodations are simple changes that will make a world of difference.

A quiet workspace or noise-blocking headphones to reduce distractions

Calendars to keep track of important deadlines

Timers to help the individual stay on task

Tasks that are divided into smaller, more manageable chunks

Short, intermittent breaks

Extended deadlines or more time for completing work

Altered work hours to accommodate peak periods of focus and attention

Written out directions, instructions, and training materials

Heal-3 is a diverse well-being provider for companies who are looking to improve well-being in the workplace or want to reduce burn-out and improve retention, and productivity. As a practitioner, I am so excited to work with them as they’re really here to change the way traditional wellbeing programs are offered. They can help your company by bringing well-being practitioners into your workplace to speak or offer workshops. They tailor their solutions to your unique company through a well-being diagnostic where they customize a plan to meet the unique challenges your employees face. They also offer a flexible wellbeing spending account which helps fill the gaps where traditional wellbeing benefits fall short, allowing employees to see a diverse range of practitioners in mental, physical, spiritual, social and even occupational health! If your company or you know anyone who could benefit from increased workplace well-being, send me a DM so I can connect you with them!

What I have learned as a coach from many of my clients is most people don't really think about the kind of life they want to live. Somehow along the way they ended up in a career, relationship, or situation without realizing how they they got there. They feel lost and think there is no way out . My job is to help you figure out why you're stuck. I will take you on a journey of self-discovery , and show you how building new habits will strengthen your ADHD brain to succeed. This is your journey and my job is to encourage you to find what it is you need to change. Then I will teach you to develop strategies to address them. The reason Coaching works is because you are moving forward positively. If you are willing and able to meet the challenges of creating a better life for yourself then you are ready for Coaching.

Burnout, anxiety, and exhaustion are common byproducts of ADHD in women. Juggling busy work and family schedules alongside an (often undiagnosed) neurological condition leaves many women desperate for support and validation. In the meantime, career ambitions and societal commitments can lead us to crippling burnout cycles. If this is you, ask for help when you need it. This could be asking family or a friend to help with the kids and household chores or going to therapy or coaching. Be kind to yourself ,and give yourself the same treatment that you would a loved one who was struggling. It's OK to ask for help !!!

ADHD in adults is not just a minor inconvenience — Consequences of adult ADHD can include lower educational achievement, increased risk of unemployment, financial instability, higher rates of divorce, and increased risky behaviors resulting in higher rates of traffic infractions and unplanned pregnancies compared to peers without ADHD. Learning about your symptoms helps you gain perspective on the reasons for your struggles. This will help you change the way you feel about yourself which can cascade into a lot of positive changes.

I used this technique when I was working in elementary school. I have taught many of my parents of ADHD kiddos this Fabulous Strategy. I love the idea of using magnets, you can glue a small picture of the activity on the magnet or use a permanent market and draw it on. For example, morning routine brush teeth (draw toothbrush) get dressed (shirt) make bed (bed) and so on. I suggest a board for each child in their room. Draw a line down the middle of the board on one side, at the top of one side Not Done and the other side Done. Your child moves the magnet over to the done side every time they complete the morning task. This way you are giving them a healthy sense of control and it also builds their self–esteem. The magnets are the neutral third party and take away the need to nag. Keeping with this and letting them know this is non-negotiable will lead to less stress, no nagging, and never late mornings!!!
