CSS Information.

Students from CSS and FRHS attended in the Inter-School Pow Wow in Tataskweyak Cree Nation this week. We want to thank all the families for their help with getting the kids ready to travel north and the community of Tataskwayak for making us feel at home. Tansi Everyone,

We would like to share the incredible success of our recent Star Observation Nights held on May 25th. Thanks to the collaborative support of G.O.O.S.E. and Fisher River Education, we were able to provide a truly memorable educational experience for our students and families.

CSS Students & Families
Our first night was dedicated to CSS students, and it completely accomplished our goal to "dazzle and astonish." Seeing close-up images of the Moon and Venus sparked genuine excitement in the students' eyes and inspired brilliant questions about our planet and our place in the universe. Parents were equally captivated. There was a beautiful, nostalgic feeling of togetherness that reminded many of us of times past. It felt like an old-school family gathering; adults sat around the telescopes laughing, joking, and sharing stories, while children played nearby. It was a wonderful break from modern technology and a true bonding experience for our community.

Special Thanks
To Shawn Ouellette for being patient, observant, and highly knowledgeable. He did a fantastic job managing the observation equipment, teaching the crowd, and responding enthusiastically to student inquiries. And a huge thank you Andrea, Aliyah and Tyler Murdock for preparing and serving hot chocolate. It kept the evening chill away.

Looking Ahead
While a technical glitch prevented Shawn from getting one specific telescope operational during these dates, he has generously offered to return in September. He noted that the September skies will be even better for viewing as the nights grow longer and darker earlier. We have agreed to coordinate a future date to make this happen.
In hindsight, my only regret is not taking photos to capture these beautiful evenings, but the memories made were lasting.

Thank you once again to G.O.O.S.E. and Fisher River Education for cost-sharing this amazing opportunity for the students and parents.

NURSERY ORIENTATION DAY - Friday, May 22, 2026
Reminder that it is Nursery Orientation Day tomorrow, May 22. New Nursery Students who have been screened and have a completed registration form will attend at their scheduled time (AM or PM); current Nursery Students will attend Kindergarten for the full day; and current Kindergarten Students will remain home.
