Hiking season is officially open, and spots are filling up fast!

This summer, step back in time to the Cambrian Period and meet the bizarre Hallucigenia! This legendary worm-like creature was so unusual that scientists initially reconstructed it upside down, mistaking its defensive spines for legs and its tentacles for tentacles on its back. This half-billion-year-old creature is just one of the many 500-million-year-old ocean fossils hiding in the Canadian Rockies.

We are heading out into the field to walk these ancient seabeds, come hike the Burgess Shale with us!
