The College of the Rockies (COTR) is made up of seven campuses, spread throughout the East Kootenays. The programs, courses, and services offered by our smaller campuses, such as Fernie, are as diverse as the communites and people they serve. All our campuses respond to the needs of their communities by offering continuing education courses, adult basic education, access to online learning and a few diverse "signature" programs.

This one-day course is designed to provide lifesaving first aid skills to workers in industry. Skills taught in the course include, applying the priority action approach, airway and breathing emergencies, one rescuer adult CPR with AED, bleeding control and assessing minor wounds. Are you applying for a Possession and Acquisition License? Get the needed fi****ms training with this course, focusing on non-restricted fi****ms such as rifles and shotguns. The course covers safety, operations and handling. By law students must be at least 12 years old when signing up for the Canadian Fi****ms Safety Course. Upon successful completion of Canadian Fi****ms Safety Course exam, the student can apply to the RCMP for their Possession and Acquisition License. Summer Climbing Camp for Teens

Welcome to a week of high-energy exploration where the floor is lava and the walls are meant for scaling! This camp is designed for teens who love to move, play, and challenge themselves. Bouldering is rock climbing stripped down to the essentials-no ropes, no harnesses, just short climbs over thick, squishy mats. It’s the ultimate way for kids to build strength and confidence while having a total blast. Although this is primarily a bouldering camp, rope skills will be introduced by our expert coach to get teens familiar with useful rope systems.

Monday to Thursday Indoor climbing at the College of the Rockies, Climbing Gym and Friday’s, climbing outside at a location to be determined.

Parents to drive teens to and from climbing site, approximately a 20 minute drive to site.

Seats are still available in the next Rough Terrain Telehandler course June 12th.

As greater ground clearance is required to navigate rougher terrain, these heavy-duty forklifts are built on much larger chassis to maintain stability while under load. This course is designed to provide Rough Terrain Telehandler operators with a solid foundation in health and safety standards, preventative maintenance and proper procedures for safe operation. Completion of certification meets or exceeds WorkSafeBC requirements. Upon successful completion, students receive an IVES Certificate valid for three years.
