I looked at my calendar and I couldn’t breathe…

All week I’ve been feeling tightness in my chest, the familiar buzz of anxiety when I’m reaching the unsustainable edges of my capacity.

Operating at this pace for two many weeks in a row, my body always gives me the signals.

This week it was feeling overwhelmed and short of breath when I’d look at the full calendar, the one with barely any white space.

It was also the edginess, strong reactions at the smallest of things (like the dog peeing in her bed for the second time in a few hours).

I felt ungrounded and incapable of taking in even one more thing.

So I had a good cry 😭- releasing the pent up energy while my hubby just stroked my arm gently and listened.

That cry felt good, but telling the truth about what I was feeling out loud, was even more relief.

I then knew what I needed to do to reclaim some mental and emotional spaciousness: cancel plans.

Create space to breathe again…

I wrestled with my fear of disappointing the people I had plans with….worrying they’d feel certain ways I was trying to avoid for them.

What I’ve learned in this season of life, is that I cannot continue to disappoint myself (and ignore my needs) in that dance.

The result was kind, empathetic and understanding responses 🩵🫶💗

And a sense that I can always reclaim ease, and soften the unrealistic expectations - a part of what I call my path back to Ease and remembering myself in the shuffle.

If you’ve been feeling any of this. I see you. 💚

And I wish you the courage to take even the smallest step to return to your needs as the foundation.

When we honour our body’s signals, we begin to embody trust that we matter too, even when it feels impossible or uncomfortable.

This is the self care we’re really yearning for 🩵

We’ve inherited a story that says productivity is THE way.

But the problem is that the satisfaction of a completed to-do list is short-lived and illusive - because something always gets added.

There’s always more…no real end point.

Instead, a sign post that always gets moved by a few inches…

Other things always seem to come first...

🌿 Before our right to rest
🦋Before the things that actually fill us up, nourish our joy well.

Q: What are you unconsciously trading to keep up with that part of you attached to being productive? 🩵

Because when productivity becomes our Master, we sacrifice the Sacred.🪷

Are you the kind of tired that sleep won’t fix?

Rest is way more than getting enough sleep.

We don’t need to overhaul life. We just need one small rested step.

Because we carry layers of fatigue that just sleep doesn’t always address.

😮‍💨 the physical + emotional exhaustion of carrying it all for too long
🤯 the tiredness from expecting so much of ourselves
🔊 the mental noise that doesn’t let us relax
💚 the spiritual tiredness (the “Is there more to life than this?...” feeling)

💗Rest is our capacity to move out of constant doing and rushing
💫Rest is our capacity to slow down and Be enough.
💗Rest is learning to trust that it’s safe to relax, and soften into the here and now.

It’s offering a softer alternative to that part of us that learned she’s only worthy when she’s doing all the things.

Rest is a lens on your life that whispers:
🌿How could I make this more restful and easeful?
🌿How might I weave Ease into this day, difficult conversation, or busy week?
🌿How might I soften my expectations of myself, even for a moment?

Restful = Easeful ✨💗✨

Easeful = space for more Relaxation + Aliveness!

When we wait to live...

In times of stress we tend to unconsciously lock ourselves out of joy and ease.

Stress narrows our focus, and lies to us: it tells us to delay our pleasure, relaxation & rest, for when everything is “done”.

But we don't have to "gatekeep" our joy... delay it for this imaginary time in the future.

When we notice our focus narrowing, and our bodies tensing, we can gently remind ourself, every day, that today I get to infuse, even ALLOW, the ease and fun, in the middle of it all.

Here are a few prompts to get you started:
🌀 How do I unknowingly “gatekeep” my joy in times of stress?
🌀 How might today look different if I allowed Ease to come along for the ride?
(notice how this possibility feels in your body)
🌀 Where can I micro-dose simple pleasures today/this week?

Because joy doesn't have to wait for "after". 🩵🌿🪷🌊☀️
