The story behind the teacher at the piano ...
I have always had a great passion for all genres of music. I began piano lessons at the age of 7, and obtained my Grade 6 Royal Conservatory of Music certification in my teens.
Many years later, when my daughter began lessons as a young girl, I quickly realized I wanted to continue my piano studies, even though I was in my 30s! I studied for 2 1/2 years, obtaining my Grade 8 Royal Conservatory of Music certification, while beginning to teach in a private studio in my home in rural Clarington.
I taught for a number of years, before taking a hiatus to help my husband as we launched Hodder Carpentry Inc.
I re-opened my home studio in August 2019, registering it as NOTEable Beginnings Piano Studio.
6 months after re-opening my studio, COVID-19 hit.
Unable to continue with in-person lessons, I decided to approach my students with the idea of doing virtual lessons. It worked!! We continued with online lessons until I was able to re-open my studio to in-person lessons.
In the Fall of 2022, my husband and I sold our family homestead in rural Clarington and moved to the City of Kawartha Lakes. Having been blessed with wonderful, dedicated students, they all stayed with me and switched back to online lessons.
I continue to offer in-person and online lessons (I even have an online student in Australia!).
As a patient, passionate teacher, I love working with beginners of all ages, helping you develop strong sight reading skills and a passion for music!
