Today, our awâsisak spent time learning about and exploring the signs of takiwâkin (fall/autumn) all around us.

Ay-hay to our Cree teachers for sharing their knowledge, language, and teachings with our students and helping us continue to bring nehiyawâtisiwin into our learning.

We hope everyone has a wonderful and restful weekend!

Our staff had a little fun today with a school-wide Rock, Paper, Scissors Challenge! A simple way to share some laughs, connect with one another, and continue building strong relationships as a team.

A big congratulations to our champion, Trent Young!

Thanks to everyone who joined in and made it fun!

Today we recognize and say Ay-hay to our amazing custodial team for everything they do to keep EES clean, safe, and welcoming for our awâsisak and staff each day.

So much of what you do happens behind the scenes, and we truly appreciate your hard work and all the ways you care for our school.

📢 School Safety Update

Today, Maskwacis Cree Junior High School was placed in a lockdown as a precautionary safety measure.

Our staff followed the school’s emergency procedures, and students remained safe and supervised throughout the lockdown. The lockdown has now been lifted, and the school has returned to normal operations.

We appreciate the cooperation and understanding of our students, staff, and families. The safety and well-being of our school community remains our top priority.

A reminder to our EES families that there is no school tomorrow, September 30th, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

We hope everyone enjoys the day with family and takes some time to reflect, learn, and honour.

We look forward to welcoming our awâsisak back on October 1st.

Today was a meaningful morning at Ermineskin Elementary School as our students, staff, Elders, and leaders gathered for our Treaty 6 Flag Raising Ceremony and to recognize Orange Shirt Day.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Elder Theresa Thunderchild for opening our gathering in prayer, Chief Joel Mykat of Ermineskin Cree Nation (neyaskweyahk) and Dr. Willie Littlechild for sharing words with our awâsisak, and Mr. Leroy Whitstone for sharing the Flag Song with us. Ay-hay for taking the time to join our school community and make this gathering special.

As we raised the Treaty 6 flag, we were reminded of the importance of Treaty, our shared responsibilities, and teaching our children about the history and relationships that continue today.

We also proudly wore orange in recognition of Orange Shirt Day. Honouring Survivors, remembering the children who never returned home, and recognizing that Every Child Matters.

Ay-hay to everyone who joined us and helped make today a meaningful day of learning, remembrance, and community. Have a great weekend!
