Evansburg

'Foley Trail'

Magnolia post office opened by the Pembina River in 1905. The railroad to Jasper came through in 1907. Coal was tested for quality near Evansburg.
Entwistle post office opened in 1908. The village had a doctor, police station and 46 businesses by 1909. Gainford School St. Peter Catholic Church were built in 1912. A coal mine began at Evansburg in 1913.
Evansburg, just west of Entwistle, had 24 homes in 1918. Styal store opened to the west. A community church was built in 1931, and Evansburg began a 10-year slump. A creamery opened in 1941. Electricity reached the villages in 1951. Evansburg was a village by 1954.

You may have seen the Search and Rescue volunteers at our school for the whole day on Tuesday....We were so lucky to have 10 volunteers come to our school to teach our students Paddle Safety, Forest Safety, Search and Rescue, Knot tying and other skills. The grown ups and kids both learned a lot and had a great day outside! Here are some pictures from the day. Thank youorg and Sarah for taking the photos.
