The Elora Centre for the Arts is a charitable organization and unique community resource that fosters creativity, a high level of artistic expression, and th

e belief that a vibrant arts centre is integral to the health of our community. Our vision is to develop and strengthen an open and accessible non-profit arts and cultural centre that promotes, teaches and nourishes the arts and arts appreciation through exhibitions, programs, and performances. The Elora Centre for the Arts is located in a restored, three-story limestone school house in one of Ontario’s most picturesque villages. We are located in the heart of the village, steps from downtown and cross from the Grand River and Bissell Park. We have a main gallery space where artist exhibitions are featured ongoing throughout the year. A second gallery and artisan shop features an artisan shop with handmade and artist-designed pieces. Admission to the gallery and Artisan shop are free (by donation if you wish). Throughout the year, live music performances and special events are hosted in the gallery or out in our yard. Our classroom space is utilized for creative workshops for adults and youth. The building consists of 10 large classrooms converted to provide over 10,000 square feet of dedicated studio, gallery, and performance space. It is the vision of the ECFTA to provide a facility that enhances cultural life in the region through the fostering of art practice and presentation, production and reception. The Elora Centre for the Arts is firmly grounded in the belief that contemporary art in all its various forms has the capacity to nurture the lives of those living, working, and visiting here. We view the arts as part of a healthy functioning society and participation in the arts as integral to the health and happiness of our communities. Hence, we provide transformative educational opportunities to art-makers of all ages and skill levels. Our programs and workshops are designed and led by professional artists and arts educators from a variety of backgrounds whose foremost goal is to foster creativity in a fun, inclusive and nurturing environment. At the ECFTA, it is our mandate to instill a life-long love of learning through the arts. The Centre is a space where visual and media arts, music, dance, theatre, and the literary arts can come together and thrive. Summer Camp Fun Continues into August at the Art Centre!

Our youngest campers ages 4-6 campers stepped into the sweet and colorful world of Camp Candy Factory, where creativity was coated in imagination and sprinkled with fun! Through storytelling, art-making, and hands-on exploration, campers created ice cream soft sculptures, mixed-media gumball machines, Candy Land maps, mini candy bowl sculptures, pastel candy sundaes, 3D melting popsicles and so much more. Every day was filled with deliciously creative adventures! We also welcomed TreeTrust who taught us about the importance of caring for the environment and lead us in fun nature activities!

In Big Art, Little Art Camp, our 7-12 year olds they explored the exciting concepts of scale by creating both giant and miniature works of art. Inspired by contemporary artists, campers made shrink art, 3-D paper sculptures inspired by Claes Oldenburg, giant floating 2-D bees, large-scale abstract paintings, and dynamic surf-wave artworks influenced by Raymond Pettibon and kinectic bugs! It was a week bursting with imagination, discovery, and artistic confidence.

Check out some of our camp highlights!

Thank you to Arts Educators Eileen MacArthur, Leah Ferguson, and Grace Mulligan for 2 weeks of action-packed projects and outdoor fun.
And to Summer Camp Team leaders, Ariana, Ava, Emily, Julie, Sonia, Thea, and student volunteers Koelle, Ava, Willow, Henry and Liam! Another shout out to Melanie for leading us in some fun games and music!

What a magical 2 weeks of summer camp at the Arts Centre!
From a week of nature & nonsense with our sweet forest friends to bold contemporary Art World Superstar masterpieces, our art-classrooms were buzzing with creativity, imagination, and discovery!

Our youngest artists, ages 4-6, spent their week exploring new friendships and the wonders of the outdoors during FOREST FRIENDS camp.
Together we painted beautiful Bizzy Garden canvases, built cozy Insect Hotels for our garden visitors, and filled our Nature Journals with discoveries using homemade Feather Pens.
We even experimented with a little nature magic through Turmeric Printing, watching vibrant patterns appear before our eyes!

ART WORLD SUPERSTARS camp was a week of bold colours, big ideas, and unforgettable styles of contemporary art, taking inspiration from iconic artists like American artists Jean-Michel Basquiat, Elizabeth Peyton and Kimmy Cantrell, eye popping Yayoi Kusama, Van Gogh and Canada’s own Maude Lewis.
From expressive self-portraits and colourful polka dot flower sculptures to textured wheat field canvases, creative still-life collages, and folk art inspired black cats, every project showcased our artists' growing skills and unique creative voices.

Thank you to Arts Educators Stephanie Lines-Toohill, Eileen MacArthur, Leah Ferguson and Grace Mulligan for 2 weeks of action-packed projects and outdoor fun.
And to Summer Camp Team leaders, Ariana, Ava, Emily, Julie, Sonia, Thea, and student volunteers Ava and Leyah! Another big thank you to Melanie for leading us in some wonderful songs and games!

It was a wonderful afternoon filled with thoughtful conversation, new connections, and the chance to hear directly from Stan about the inspiration behind his work. From sacred geometry and ancient symbols to the relationships that connect us all, his insights brought another layer of meaning to this extraordinary exhibition.

The gallery has been transformed with bold, vibrant, immersive installations that truly need to be experienced in person. Whether you're drawn to the large-scale pieces, love discovering the symbolism woven throughout the exhibition, or simply enjoy taking in the energy of the space, 'Interconnected' is an experience you won't soon forget.
