🍁 Grateful Hearts & Bountiful Blessings 🍂

A heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Kennedy’s and Ms. Babich’s classes for hosting our beautiful Thanksgiving Mass on Thursday at Sacred Heart Parish! We would also like to extend a special thank you to Miss Wilock and the Vanier students for providing such joyful music as our choir. 🎶

Together, we joyously thanked God for His goodness and many blessings—celebrating the gifts of a bountiful harvest, family and friends, health and happiness, faith and love, education, and the beauty of nature. We also celebrated the dedicated staff who received their long service awards.🌾❤️

Because we are created in God’s image, we are called to reflect His goodness to others just like a mirror—responding to His grace by being generous, caring, and loving.

During our celebration, we reflected on the power of our hands as a Christian symbol:
🤲 Receiving & Giving: Open to receive God’s gifts and share food and blessings with others.
🤝 Helping & Reaching Out: Extended in kindness to young and old, offering friendliness and forgiveness.
👋 Welcoming & Comforting: Waved to greet someone, offer comfort to those who are sad, or celebrate a job well done.
🙏 Praise & Prayer: Folded in prayer or raised in praise and blessing over God’s people.

May we all use our hands to be God’s reflection in the world this Thanksgiving season! ✨

🛡️ Grade 3 Clay for Kids Workshop! 🎨

Our Grade 3 students participated in an in-house field trip with Clay for Kids! Guided by an instructor, they sculpted and painted Alberta Coat of Arms shields—combining Art (3D sculpture) and Social Studies (exploring Alberta's symbols & meanings) in one hands-on lesson.

The pieces are now off to Edmonton for kiln firing and will be picked up and brought back to the classroom soon! 🏺✨

🐾 Science Meets Vocabulary in Grade 6! 🌿✨

Ms. Stanley’s Grade 6s have been diving deep into Living Systems and exploring how ecosystems maintain that delicate, magical balance! 🌍💡

To put their knowledge into action, our Grade 6s stepped into the shoes of Edmonton Valley Zoo education experts! Their mission? Take big ecosystem concepts and present them to a visiting Grade 3 class. As part of their project, students were evaluated on their science knowledge, oral communication skills, and Language Arts vocabulary! 💬📚

The best part? They teamed up with their awesome Grade 3 buddies in 3W to test out their presentations! By tailoring their words and speaking clearly so their younger peers could easily understand, our Grade 6s mastered the art of communication. To finish up, each student recorded a video of themselves explaining their topic to submit to the teacher! 📹👏

Way to go, Grade 6! Keep shining, learning, and leading! 🌟🙌

🌲 Little Hands, Big Hearts: Future Stewards of Creation 🍂
Our kindergarten class took their learning outdoors for an incredible walk of discovery and stewardship in our local forested area!
The forest was the perfect classroom to witness the beautiful rhythms of change. Together, we:

🍁 Collected vibrant autumn leaves of all shapes and sizes.
🌳 Discussed the trees that fill our community with life.
🍂 Talked about fall changes and why nature prepares for a season of rest.

As they walked, they learned what it truly means to be a "steward"—to look after God's wonderful creations with gentle hands and thankful hearts.

“Creation is not a property, which we can rule over at will... Creation is a gift, it is a wonderful gift that God has given us, so that we care for it and we use it for the benefit of all, always with great respect and gratitude”.
— Pope Francis (General Audience)

We brought a few fallen treasures back to our classroom to continue investigating the changing seasons. What a beautiful reminder to slow down, respect nature, and marvel at the world around us!

An enormous thank you to the parents who volunteered to help the Kindergarten studnets on their awesome adventure in the forest.
