On Wednesday, September 16, four teachers and 20 in-person and online students travelled to Frontier Lodge in Nordegg, arriving around 10:00 a.m. Upon arrival, students were welcomed by the camp staff and began their first class session. Each day, students participated in a class session focused on leadership, personal growth, and spiritual formation, exploring how outdoor experiences and adventure can be used to develop these areas. The sessions were taught by Professor Dennis Landon of Prairie College, earning students both high school and post-secondary credits. Each afternoon, students participated in a variety of outdoor adventures, putting into practice concepts and lessons from the classroom. On Wednesday, students rappelled down cliffs. Thursday focused on a variety of team-building activities, while Friday included a hike, a canyon crossing using a Tyrolean traverse (similar to a zipline), and a period of solitude. Each evening concluded with a short devotional, followed by free time. Many students spent this time playing Gaga ball and enjoying fellowship with one another.Students and staff from Red Deer Koinonia also attended the camp, providing our students with an opportunity to meet and build relationships with other Christian youth.Overall, the trip was a wonderful time of learning, adventure, fellowship, and growth for our students and staff. It was lovely to experience Godβs creation together while developing leadership skills and strengthening relationships in the beautiful Nordegg area.
