🦃🍂 Thanksgiving Fun at Our Daycare! 🍁🧡

Our little learners have been busy celebrating Thanksgiving with fun, creative, and hands-on activities! 🧡✨

👶🎨 Infants: Our tiniest artists explored painting on a turkey-shaped cardboard box and decorating it with colourful paper. So much sensory fun and creativity! 🌈🖌️

👩‍🍳🥧 Toddlers: Our little chefs enjoyed a pretend Thanksgiving party with cooking, pretend kitchen activities, and lots of imaginative play! 🍽️🥄 They also created adorable turkeys by sticking paper cutouts onto paper plates. 🦃✂️

🧻👀 Pre-Kindergarten: Our creative minds used loose parts, including paper rolls, construction paper, and googly eyes, to design their very own turkeys! 🦃🎨 Each creation was unique and full of personality! 💛

🏖️🤲 Out-of-School Care (OSC): Our older children enjoyed exploring kinetic sand through sensory play, digging, shaping, and creating while engaging their senses. ✨👐

👶 Infants are strengthening their fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination by carefully placing Cotton swabs into holes. Little hands, big learning! ✨

🚶 Toddlers are developing balance, coordination, and body control as they walk while holding wooden pieces. Every step builds confidence! 🪵💪

🔤 Pre-Kindergarten children are working on alphabet puzzles, strengthening their letter recognition, problem-solving skills, and concentration. 🧩🔠

🚗 Our OSC children got creative by designing their own car track and parking area, then had fun using it for imaginative play! This activity encouraged creativity, planning, cooperation, and problem-solving. 🛣️🅿️

👣 Infant Explorers: Our little one practiced balance and coordination while carefully walking across the stepping stones. 🪨👶💪 Every little step is a big achievement! 🎉

🐑 Toddler Artists: Our toddlers got creative making adorable sheep! They stuck soft, fluffy cotton balls onto cardstock to create the sheep’s body. ☁️🐑✨ So much fun exploring textures while building fine-motor skills!

At Daycare, every activity is an opportunity for children to explore, discover, and learn through hands-on experiences! 💛

🧊 Pre-Kindergarten: Our little learners used tweezers to carefully pick up slippery pieces of ice — building fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and persistence. ❄️

🎾 Infants: A simple activity with balls stuck to a fence using masking tape encouraged our youngest explorers to reach, pull, grasp, and discover cause and effect. 👶💕

🍃 Toddlers: We explored nature by looking closely at leaves, flowers, and the wonderful things growing around us. These experiences encourage curiosity, observation, and a connection with the natural world. 🌸🌱

🌳 After-School Care: Our nature walk turned into a little outdoor adventure! Children searched for and collected natural treasures such as leaves, branches, and flowers while observing their surroundings and enjoying time outdoors. 🍂🌿

💦 Outdoor Water Play encourages sensory exploration, early STEM learning, fine and gross motor development, and social skills as children pour, scoop, splash, and explore together.

🎯 Outdoor Ring Toss strengthens gross motor skills, balance, coordination, spatial awareness, and perseverance as children practice aiming and throwing.

🐟 Exploring Colors & Shapes builds early math, language, memory, and observation skills by sorting, matching, and identifying different colored and shaped fish.

Our little learners had a wonderful time celebrating Team Spirit Day with exciting rounds of Tug of War at the park! 🌳✨ The sunshine, laughter, and teamwork made it a day to remember! ☀️😊

🌈✨ Exploring the Magic of Light & Electricity! 🔦⚡

This week at River Valley Daycare & OSC, our little scientists became curious explorers as they discovered the amazing world of light, color, shadows, and electricity! 💡🔬

Using flashlights, colored lenses, magnifying glasses, and reflective materials, the children explored how white light can separate into a rainbow of colors 🌈. They experimented with mixing different colored lights to discover new colors, observed reflections, and investigated how light travels across different surfaces. They were fascinated by creating shadows, changing their size and shape, and watching their own silhouettes appear in the dark. 👤✨

The excitement continued as the children built their very own electric spinning color wheels! ⚙️🔋 Following step-by-step instructions from their educators and picture guides, they assembled their spinners using simple materials and a battery. Seeing their colorful wheels spin was an exciting moment of discovery, and they were so proud to take their creations home to share with their families! 🏡❤️

Our toddlers had an exciting time exploring a "Spider Web Crawl" obstacle course! 🕷️ Using string stretched between chairs, the children carefully crawled under and through the "web," turning play into a wonderful learning experience.

✨ Skills they are developing

🕸️ Gross Motor Skills – Crawling under and around the strings strengthens arm, leg, shoulder, and core muscles while improving overall body coordination.

👀 Body Awareness – Children learn where their bodies are in space as they carefully move without touching the web.

⚖️ Balance & Stability – Shifting their weight while crawling helps develop balance and postural control.

🤲 Bilateral Coordination – Using both hands and both knees together encourages both sides of the brain to work as a team.

🎯 Motor Planning – Children think ahead, decide how to move their bodies, and solve movement challenges independently.

🍁❤️ **Happy Canada Day from all of us at River Valley Daycare & OSC!** ❤️🍁

What a wonderful day filled with creativity, laughter, learning, and Canadian pride! 🇨🇦✨

Our little learners celebrated Canada Day through fun, hands-on activities designed for every age group:

👶 **Infants** created beautiful **Canadian flags using their handprints**, strengthening fine motor skills, sensory awareness, creativity, and self-expression while creating a special keepsake.

🎆 **Toddlers** explored painting **fireworks with loose parts**, developing fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, imagination, colour recognition, problem-solving, and sensory exploration.

🍁 **Preschool** children proudly created Canada Day crafts, encouraging creativity, fine motor development, planning skills, focus, imagination, self-expression, and confidence as they celebrated our country's colours and traditions.

🌾 **Pre-Kindergarten** children enjoyed a **red and white rice sensory bin**, building sensory processing skills, language development, early math concepts (measuring, scooping, sorting), concentration, and cooperative play.

🎨 **Our OSC children** showcased their creativity by making a variety of **Canada Day crafts**, encouraging artistic expression, planning, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence in their unique creations.

🎶 To make the celebration even more memorable, our teachers and children came together to sing **Canada Day songs**, promoting language development, memory, listening skills, rhythm, confidence, and a wonderful sense of community and belonging.

🍓🍪 We also enjoyed a delicious Canada Day treat with red and white cookies and fresh strawberries! Sharing a festive snack together encouraged social interaction, table manners, conversation, healthy eating habits, and created joyful memories as we celebrated with our friends.
