🌈✨ Exploring the Magic of Light & Electricity! 🔦⚡

This week at River Valley Daycare & OSC, our little scientists became curious explorers as they discovered the amazing world of light, color, shadows, and electricity! 💡🔬

Using flashlights, colored lenses, magnifying glasses, and reflective materials, the children explored how white light can separate into a rainbow of colors 🌈. They experimented with mixing different colored lights to discover new colors, observed reflections, and investigated how light travels across different surfaces. They were fascinated by creating shadows, changing their size and shape, and watching their own silhouettes appear in the dark. 👤✨

The excitement continued as the children built their very own electric spinning color wheels! ⚙️🔋 Following step-by-step instructions from their educators and picture guides, they assembled their spinners using simple materials and a battery. Seeing their colorful wheels spin was an exciting moment of discovery, and they were so proud to take their creations home to share with their families! 🏡❤️

Our toddlers had an exciting time exploring a "Spider Web Crawl" obstacle course! 🕷️ Using string stretched between chairs, the children carefully crawled under and through the "web," turning play into a wonderful learning experience.

🎆 **Toddlers** explored painting **fireworks with loose parts**, developing fine motor control, hand-eye coordination, imagination, colour recognition, problem-solving, and sensory exploration.

🍁 **Preschool** children proudly created Canada Day crafts, encouraging creativity, fine motor development, planning skills, focus, imagination, self-expression, and confidence as they celebrated our country's colours and traditions.

🌾 **Pre-Kindergarten** children enjoyed a **red and white rice sensory bin**, building sensory processing skills, language development, early math concepts (measuring, scooping, sorting), concentration, and cooperative play.

🎨 **Our OSC children** showcased their creativity by making a variety of **Canada Day crafts**, encouraging artistic expression, planning, problem-solving, teamwork, and confidence in their unique creations.

🎶 To make the celebration even more memorable, our teachers and children came together to sing **Canada Day songs**, promoting language development, memory, listening skills, rhythm, confidence, and a wonderful sense of community and belonging.

🍓🍪 We also enjoyed a delicious Canada Day treat with red and white cookies and fresh strawberries! Sharing a festive snack together encouraged social interaction, table manners, conversation, healthy eating habits, and created joyful memories as we celebrated with our friends.
