All of this matters
Your child is upset, and your body notices.
Your shoulders rise.
Your jaw tightens.
Your breath gets short.
You feel the urge to make their big, upset, unhappy feelings go away.
But when it comes to raising emotionally healthy and resilient kids, supporting children safely through their big emotions is more powerful than preventing them.
A slower pace.
A softer tone.
One well-paced, steady breath.
These tiny shifts matter.
Your childβs nervous system is listening to more than just your words.
Itβs listening to your presence and whether they feel safe or not.
Emotional safety. This is where co-regulation begins.

π¦βοΈ Splish, Splash... What a Blast! βοΈπ¦
There was no shortage of smiles, laughter, and happy squeals during our Southview Water Day! π From racing through the splash pad and dancing under the waterfall to epic water-gun battles and zooming down the water slide, our children embraced every exciting moment of summer fun!
While they were busy making unforgettable memories, they were also building important skills like coordination, balance, confidence, teamwork, communication, and problem-solvingβall through the joy of play.
At Southview, we know that some of the best learning happens when children are free to explore, move, create, and follow their curiosity. Experiences like these reflect Flight: Alberta's Early Learning and Care Framework, where play, well-being, relationships, and joyful exploration are at the heart of children's learning.
Here's to sunshine, friendships, and making the most of every splash! ππ§π

Our Southview children had the incredible opportunity to spend the day exploring the Edmonton Valley Zoo!π¦π»
We are so privileged to be able to provide enriching field trip experiences like this for our children. Beyond the excitement of seeing amazing animals, these outings encourage curiosity, support language and social development, build confidence, and create meaningful opportunities for hands-on learning in the community.
Watching the children discover, ask questions, and share these special moments with their peers and educators is what makes experiences like these so rewarding. We had an unforgettable day filled with learning, laughter, and wonderful memories! β€οΈ
