Your Students' Council Representatives, Hebah and Deogyne, attended the Alberta Students' Executive Council [ASEC] conference this week, where they connected with fellow student leaders from across the province and contributed to conversations about provincial advocacy priorities.

The conference was a great experience to learn about governance and collaborate with other student leaders to share ideas.

They heard from guest speakers such as Edmonton's Mayor, Andrew Knack, previous student leaders who are thriving in society and our Executive Director, Cherie Sawaryn, participated and shared lessons learned as an alumni panellist at the first ASEC alumni dinner.

Your Students' Council Representatives, Dan and Alex, joined Edmonton's Mayor Andrew Knack earlier this month for a roundtable.

This was an opportunity to ask questions, network with Students' Council Reps from other institutions and learn more about the efforts that the municipal government is working towards in terms of student housing, affordable living and public transit safety.

Questions about the current state of International student visas and financial shortages specific to NorQuest College due to a decrease in International students were also brought to the table.

Your Students' Council Reps continue to be part of the conversation, addressing concerns of students and putting their best interests at the forefront.

Congratulations to our Service Director, Lisa!

Lisa was honoured this week by Edmonton's Food Bank for her commitment and relentless dedication to serving and sourcing resources to support students.

She was selected as this year's recipient of the Janet Hughes Award.

The annual award celebrates an individual within an organization who is dedicated to reducing food poverty. As Service Director, Lisa oversees the SANQC Emergency Food Pantry program, builds community partnerships and creates no-cost-to-students support systems at NorQuest College.

We are so proud of Lisa!
