📣Ignite Centre for eLearning is hiring for the 2026-2027 School Year 📣

Ignite Centre for eLearning is a fully-accredited, non-profit online school with Alberta certificated teachers. Ignite has partnered with Nightwind Treatment Centre, a fully-accredited youth treatment program to offer in-person and online learning opportunities through an Education Programs in an Institution grant (EPI). Nightwind supports youth ages 12 to 21 within a trauma-informed, in-patient treatment environment grounded in Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing.

The Nightwind Program includes four sites to meet the individual needs of youth: Kihew School within Sturgeon County just west of Legal (7 students), Stony Creek School in Athabasca County north of Tawatinaw Ski Hill (7 students), Grandmother Turtle House in Westlock (4 students) and Thunderbird Landing in Westlock County (4 students).

Certificated Teacher
One Full-time teacher position for one or two of the Nightwind sites, following a standard school calendar schedule providing support for low-enrollment classrooms. Part-time employment may also be available.

Qualifications & Experience:
â—Ź A committed, caring educator who is able to create a learning environment focused on success for all students, especially those who have experienced little to no school success.
â—Ź Knowledge of working with Indigenous youth and the ability to integrate culture into their programs of study.
â—Ź Collaborative educator with a demonstrated ability to engage staff in student-focused learning and development.
â—Ź Exceptional interpersonal skills that create and enhance positive relationship(s) with students, school staff, institutional program staff and caseworkers for youth.
â—Ź Experience with evidence-based decision-making and a passion for leading literacy and numeracy interventions is essential.
â—Ź Results-oriented professional with a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
â—Ź Flexible and responsive in meeting the educational and developmental needs of diverse students.
â—Ź Experience using and supporting staff with multiple approaches to supporting student behaviours of concern is essential.
â—Ź Broad curricular background focused on Junior High and High School courses and committed to helping youth earn credits toward high school completion.

Educational/Professional Requirements:
â—Ź Teacher certification in Alberta
â—Ź Experience supporting youth with behaviours of concerns is essential
â—Ź Training such as Violence Threat Risk Assessment (VTRA) and/or Supporting Individual Valued Attachments (SIVA) is an asset
â—Ź The ability/willingness to enhance learning through digital learning platforms is required.

All new employees of IGNITE / NWTC are required to submit a recent (within 6 months), clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector as well as a Child Intervention Check prior to commencement of employment.

This is a great opportunity for Métis students, especially those enrolled in a Bachelor of Education program, to gain hands-on experience in K-12 Métis education, curriculum and resource development, and professional learning.
