I think this might be the hardest part about entrepreneurship…
It isn’t the failure, which inevitably comes in one way or another.
It’s the POSSIBILITY of failure that’s hard.

The possibility that you could spend months creating something… and nobody cares. That you could put yourself out there… and hear crickets. That you could be completely, spectacularly wrong.

But here’s the part I find fascinating as an anatomy nerd:
Our brains aren’t passive observers in this process.
The anterior mid cingulate cortex is involved in effort, persistence, and continuing when something is difficult or uncomfortable. And there’s growing research into how engaging in effortful experiences can influence the brain.

So maybe confidence isn’t about becoming certain that something will work. Maybe confidence is built by repeatedly experiencing the thought process ā€œI don’t know if this will work, but I’m going to try anywayā€œ

That’s entrepreneurship.
That’s leadership.
That’s the process of creating in this AI heavy world.

And apparently that’s also a little bit of brain training.

So here’s to all of us building things that might fail.
May we get really fu***ng good at trying. šŸ„‚

This is where anatomy gets interesting to me. I don’t really care if you can name the muscle or the ligament. I care whether you understand what the body is trying to accomplish when it uses it.

This is what differentiates memorization and applied anatomy.
Which do you think you would get more value out of?

I don’t doubt that you were taught anatomy.
In fact, I’m sure you were.

Now you should learn Applied Anatomy.
Beginning Sept… link in bio šŸ‘ˆ

Advanced Anatomy - Musculoskeletal System Training 08/10/2026

Here's an uncomfortable truth about learning anatomy:
You can memorize every muscle in the body and still not know how a body moves.

At some point, advanced anatomy has to move beyond:
ā€œWhat muscle is this?ā€
and become:
ā€œWhat am I actually seeing?ā€ ā€œWhy might this be happening?ā€ ā€œWhat information do I need?ā€ ā€œAnd how does this change the way I teach?ā€

That's what we'll explore in my 18-hour Advanced Musculoskeletal Training this fall.
Less memorizing.
More observing.
Less fixing.
More understanding.
And a whole lot more learning to work with actual human bodies.

Beginning September 18 with hours split between online & in-person, we will learn from each other what human variation looks like and how we can use it in our movement classes.

Zero textbook studying. All Applied Anatomy.
This training is part of the 300-hour Yoga Teacher Training at Above Average Wellness

Scar tissue.
Perhaps a better name would be ā€œadaptive tissueā€.
