Dear Alberta Council on Aging Members,
On behalf of the Alberta Council, I want to extend our heartfelt appreciation for the support and dedication you have shown in supporting and enriching the lives of older persons. The work we have done in Alberta has made a meaningful impact, and we are grateful that you have been part of our journey.
As you may know, the Alberta Council will cease operations at the end of 2025. While this was a difficult decision, we recognize that we have accomplished what we set out to achieve.
After 58 years of exceptional leadership, service, volunteerism, and advocacy, we take pride in the positive change we have fostered across the province. However, like many nonprofit organizations, we have faced challenges in securing sustainable funding while managing increasing operational costs.
This is not goodbye but rather an opportunity to reflect on the incredible legacy we have built together.
Our operations will still be active for 2025, so we are here to listen. Please see the message shared by our valued partner Belair Direct:
“As the relationship between Johnson Insurance and Alberta Council on Aging will conclude on August 31, 2025, members who currently hold a MEDOC Travel Insurance policy as an ACA member, will receive additional documents with their September 1, 2025 policy that will provide continued access to the same great coverage they are used to.”
We deeply appreciate the collaboration and shared commitment that has driven our collective efforts
Thank you for being part of our story. It has been an honour to work alongside you.
With gratitude and best wishes,
Gary Pool, President of the Alberta Council on Aging
