On Friday we hosted elementary students from 9 different schools around Edmonton! They came to Bennett for our Treaty Partnership Summit. The students learned about smudging, heard teachings from an elder, and participated in discussions of how to be good Treaty partners within their schools and as individuals. What a great group of kids! We look forward to their next visit!

If you follow the trail up the Camel Humps look closely, you might be able to spot long forgotten bricks along the way!

Rene is the keeper of Bennett. Not only does he keep Bennett clean and safe, but he is the core of our team. Rene is always happy to help in whatever way he can and we'd be absolutely lost here without him!

So much work has happened in the Bennett yard! We have a brand new fire pit, lots of new garden boxes, TWO tipi pole storage sheds, a couple of sitting area shelters and an outdoor classroom! Not quite finished yet but it's really taking shape and we cannot wait to see the final product.

On August 20, 2008 the Bennett Centre Annex erupted in flames. Firefighters fought hard to battle the two-alarm fire throughout the afternoon and crews were able to extinguish the flames by around 1:30 p.m. Investigators believe the blaze was sparked by a ruptured gas line, causing $3.5M in damage.

We here at Bennett are so incredibly proud to announce that our Indigenous Program Lead, Lyle Tootoosis, has received the Youth Leadership Mentorship award for 2023! Lyle's tireless commitment to his work and to the community is apparent in everything he does. We could not think of a more deserving award winner.
Congratulations Lyle! 🎉🎉🎉
