This week students got to share a few items from home that are important to them during their "All About Me" activity. We also had our first dress up day where students were encouraged to wear 🟥 RED 🟥 and painted apples with q-tips fostering creativity and fine motor skills

Creating a classroom full of kindness for the year was our focus this week. The students made bracelets to represent that we are all connected and ready to learn, play and grow together based on the book "Our Class is a Family". They colored pictures of Chester from "The Kissing Hand" as they "kissed the first week of school goodbye".

We explored outside to make nature stamps, leaf pictures, played in the park and played What Time is it Mr. Wolf.

Inside play time was filled with puppet shows, grocery shopping with personalized lists, yoga, playdoh, sensory bins, pen control foundations and so much more!

Meet Mrs. W!

Mrs. Wolbeck is a passionate and experienced early childhood educator with more than 20 years of experience supporting young children and families. She has a diploma in Child and Youth Care and holds a level 3 certificate as an Early Childhood Educator. She is a strong advocate for play-based learning and believes children learn best through meaningful, hands-on experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong love of learning.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Wolbeck has worked in a variety of early learning and family support settings, building strong relationships with children, families, and colleagues. She spent eight years as a Lead Teacher at a Gold Bar Community preschool. Her experience also includes supporting families through community-based family resource programs, where she promoted positive parent-child relationships and early childhood development.

Mrs. Wolbeck is passionate about outdoor play, early literacy, sensory play, and process art, believing these experiences provide children with rich opportunities to explore, create, and develop essential skills. She is committed to creating warm, inclusive learning environments where every child feels safe, valued, and supported.

Mrs. Otis-Monat is a passionate and innovative early childhood educator dedicated to fostering a strong sense of belonging through play-based learning, literacy, and meaningful relationships. She holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta and began her career as a Developmental Support Assistant with GRIT, where she gained valuable experience supporting children with diverse developmental needs.

In 2016, Mrs. Otis-Monat joined Community Options, where she spent nine rewarding years making a positive impact on children and families. During that time, she served as a Coordinating Teacher for seven years, partnering closely with families and supporting children of varying abilities, before transitioning into the role of Communications and Engagement Coordinator for two years. She also brings two years of Virtual Preschool experience, successfully engaging and inspiring young learners in an online environment.

Mrs. Otis-Monat is committed to creating inclusive, nurturing, and engaging learning experiences that help every child feel valued, confident, and ready to grow.

Our teachers do a fantastic job of sparking imagination! Our dramatic play area/house was transformed into a restaurant for nutrition month, an ice rink and consession stand for January, teddy bear hospital for community helpers month, flower shop for spring and plants month and the North pole complete with letter writing station and gift wrapping area.

Many adventures were had last year! Animals joining our classroom (real and in costume form), gymnastics, the makery, treehouse, a music teacher, and numerous community helpers like an optometrist, Edmonton Fire and Rescue, the armed forces, nursing students and a dentist!
