Dear Edmontonians, it's that time again!
Autism Edmonton and the Autism Research Centre (us) are putting out a call for the 2027 Student Pilot Grant applications.

The cycle for autism event is sadly cancelled this weekend. We hope to be able to attend once the event has a new date.

Executive Director Message to Community,

Friends, we are sad to do this again, but after careful consideration and consultation with the City of Edmonton, we have made the very difficult decision to cancel Cycle for Autism at Gold Bar Park, rescheduled for June 28, 2026.

With the significant rainfall and wind expected this weekend, we are not confident the event can be safely held. Our primary concern is safety for participants, volunteers, and community members.

Please know this was not an easy decision for the Autism Edmonton team. We know how much excitement and effort have gone into this event, and we are truly grateful for the support of everyone involved.

We are committed to bringing our community together and will be hosting a scaled-down Cycle for Autism event once conditions improve. Details regarding the new date will be shared as soon as they are confirmed.

Potential Research Roles:
Participant - Someone who agrees to take part in a research study by providing information about themselves or a family member
Partner - Someone who partners with a research team to co-develop research questions, methods, collect data, and/or share of results
Advisor - Someone who provides their opinion on research questions, methods, and/or data collection

Our centre is really excited to see if our early assessment tool, the Autism Observation Scale for Infants, is able to identify social communication differences in children whose parents/caregivers identify developmental concerns.

We are completing in-person assessments at the Autism Research Centre in Edmonton Alberta.

If you are a parent who has a baby between 6 and 17 months of age and you have concerns about their development, consider signing up for our study.

** Are you a sibling of an autistic individual? **
This research might be for you!

We are very interested in following babies who have a parent with an autistic sibling. Why? We would like to better understand how autism presents in families.

We are able to complete these meetings in person in Edmonton Alberta, but also virtually in Alberta and Ontario!

The PRISMA team is currently recruiting individuals on the autism spectrum who live in Alberta to take part in a study to understand their experiences and opinions on genetic testing for autism.

Participation involves completing an online survey. The goal is to help identify ways to improve care and the healthcare system for autistic individuals and their families.

We are providing a community presentation and wanted to ask our community what resources, health care services, or organizations did you access or are aware of regarding concerns about child development.
