Congratulations to Young Rangers FC – Somali Heritage Week Soccer Champions.

We are proud to announce that Young Rangers FC emerged as the champions of the Somali Heritage Week Soccer Tournament, proudly hosted by Aflah Academy.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Mama Asli Abade, Africa’s first female fighter pilot, Certified Public Accountant, and gynecologist for her unwavering support in our mission to engage and empower the youth.

Our sincere thanks also go to Okwuchi Nnani and Nicky Gocuan Yeg from the Stakeholder Relations and Community Outreach Team at the Premier’s Office for attending the final match and presenting medals 🏅 to both the second-place team and the champions. Your dedication to community service is truly appreciated.

We would also like to recognize Dale Alton for his valued presence and ongoing support, as well as every member of our community who participated in the tournament or came out to cheer for their teams. Your energy, encouragement, and unity made this event a success.

Thank you all for making this year’s Somali Heritage Week Soccer Tournament a memorable celebration of sport, culture, and community spirit.

BOTTLES FOR BOOKS. RAISED $300/$1000

Our school’s Bottles for Books campaign is making great strides towards our goal of raising $1,000 to purchase new books for our library.

Thanks to the collective efforts of our students and staff, who have been recycling bottles, we have already raised $300. This initiative plays a vital role in expanding our library, which currently houses 3,000 cataloged books.

With the additional funds, we aim to further enrich our collection, providing students with a wider variety of reading materials to support their academic growth and foster a lifelong love of learning. The success of this campaign will have a lasting, positive impact on our students and their educational journey.

"Celebrating Excellence in December 2024, right before the winter break! Students from grades 1-9 were recognized and awarded certificates such us:

1. High Achiever Certificate
2. Citizenship Certificate
3. Neatest Certificate
4. MIS (Most Improved Student) Certificate

Since then, celebrating excellence has become a daily habit at Aflah Academy and our students are enjoying their progress at all levels!"

Some of our junior high students at the UofA for a field trip on Nov 2024. It was a great experience for the first timers 🙂
