Wow—I’m starting my fifth academic year teaching voice in MacEwan’s Musical Theatre Performance program! 💛🎶

This journey has been so rewarding these past five years, largely because of the extraordinary people I get to surround myself with daily. I’m deeply grateful for our talented students, the supportive MTP faculty, and the DREAM voice team I share: David Wilson, Renée Brad and Crystal Hansen (not pictured here). My dear friends, David and Renée (now an assistant professor!), are longtime instructors with MacEwan and they are true MASTER teachers. Learning and teaching alongside them has been an absolute honour and privilege. Here’s to a wonderful 2026/2027 academic year! 🎭✨ (photo from 2023)

Duncan Sheik, the singer-songwriter best known for his shimmering Grammy-nominated 1996 debut single, “Barely Breathing,” has died at age 56. 🕊️

The family shared the news the day after announcing that he was in “critical but stable” condition in a hospital due to an undisclosed ailment. “Duncan passed away last night surrounded by love,” they wrote. According to 'The New York Times,' Sheik’s death at a hospital in Manhattan was confirmed by his mother, Suzanne Sheik, who said the cause was organ failure.
