Beginning July 1, 2026, families with a household income below $225K will be eligible to receive $100 per adult through the new Alberta Energy Rebate.

The rebate will put revenue collected from high energy prices back in the hands of Albertans to help with the costs of fuel and other household needs.

Our preschoolers were invited to explore numbers and quantity using a hands-on counting activity. Each child selected a craft stick with a specific number of dots and matched it to the corresponding numeral on the sun ray. As they carefully counted the dots and placed the sticks in the correct position, they practiced one-to-one correspondence and number recognition. The children showed concentration, problem-solving skills, and confidence while independently checking their work and making connections between quantities and numerals.
This activity promoted number recognition, counting skills, and one-to-one correspondence while strengthening fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. As the children manipulated the craft sticks and matched quantities to numerals, they also developed problem-solving abilities, concentration, visual discrimination, and mathematical reasoning. The activity provided an enjoyable opportunity for children to build confidence in their early numeracy skills through active, play-based learning.
