What is StoryWalk? StoryWalkยฎ offers an innovative and interactive way for readers to enjoy a storybook while engaging with the environment. Along a path at MacEwan University, you will travel from one page of a children's book to the next, making your way through captivating illustrations, teachings, and more. Our community will have all-season access to this unique experience, with picture book pages woven through indoor and outdoor campus spaces. Our storybooks will change regularly for self-guided experiences. Featuring diverse stories with thoughtful ideas and captivating illustrations, StoryWalkยฎ at MacEwan will create a pathway for promoting early learning, exercise and curiosity.

Join us this September and October for a walk through "When We Were Alone" by David A. Robertson (Swampy Cree) and Julie Flett (Cree-Mรฉtis). This story offers a chance to learn about Canada's residential school system, where over 150,000 First Nations, Mรฉtis, and Inuit children were impacted. This story invites reflection on a difficult history, revealing strength and empowerment in a gentle way for young children.

Walking Together introduces readers to the concept of Etuaptmumk - or Two-Eyed Seeing, the gift of multiple perspectives in the Mi'kmaw language - as we follow a group of young children connecting to nature as their teacher. Written by Elder Albert D. Marshall and Louise Zimanyi and illustrated by Emily Kewageshig, this book is a journey for the heart, mind, body, and spirit.
