In the middle of the city, more than 240 acres of agricultural land sits quietly.

The University of Alberta South Campus research areas have been around for almost 100 years. They provide a place for students and researchers to discover advancements in animal metabolism, agriculture, food safety, and fermentation.

Roozen became one of Alberta’s most respected corporate directors, lending her strategic counsel to some of Canada’s most prominent corporate boards, including Shaw Communications, Corus Entertainment, Melcor Developments and EPCOR Utilities.

Beyond the corporate sector, her leadership in health care and civic affairs has left a lasting legacy.

Congrats Cathy! The award will be presented at the annual CBLA Dinner on March 3, 2027, in Edmonton.

ℹ️ The Canadian Business Leader Award (CBLA), established by the Alberta School of Business and presented by the U of A, is awarded to individuals who have demonstrated leadership, business acumen and success, an entrepreneurial spirit, integrity and a commitment to the community.

Did you know that the U of A is home to the largest academic network in Canada with many experts in paleontology and a leading dinosaur fossil collection?

But first we need your help. The Dinosaur exhibition has been selected as one of three finalists for North Central Co-op’s Next 80 Community Impact Grant 🔗https://www.coopandyou.ca/next80

The Dinosaur fossils from the University of Alberta’s own archives will be the second exhibition featured in the Kenneth and Sandra Wong Gallery, opening in March 2027. Receiving this community grant would support the design, set-up and ex*****on of the paleontology exhibition. 🦖

If you are a member-owner at a North Central Co-op, YOU can vote and help the project receive $50,000 in support. Voting is open until October 7, while ballots last.

Want to see how adapted physical activity and inclusion come to life on campus?

As part of U of A Days, we’re hosting guided tours of The Steadward Centre on Saturday, September 19. Come explore KSR’s dedicated teaching and research facility to learn how our programs, research, and community partnerships support fitness for individuals experiencing disability.

Tours run at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on North Campus. Just head to the Information Tent to register when you arrive, and volunteers will guide you over.
