A handful of our students got the opportunity to see some underground equipment thanks to Amalgamated Mining Group! They got to ask questions, to the professionals, about maintenance, equipment selection and anything else they could think of, regarding underground equipment.

Applications for this yearโs Fort McMurray oil sands tour are open! This trip is a great experience for 2nd year students who have yet to get an opportunity to be on a mine site, or for those who would like an opportunity to network with professionals in the oil sands industry.

The Faculty of Engineering and Suncor-Syncrude have partnered to offer you the opportunity to visit their Fort McMurray oilsand sites from Wednesday, August 27 to Friday, August 29. Travel, accommodation, and meals will be provided free of charge for all participants. This trip will include guided tours through mines and tailings, as well as opportunities to network with oilsands professionals. More information, including requirements and the itinerary are available in the application form linked in our bio.
Steel-toed boots are recommended and encouraged, but steel toe rubber boots can be provided upon request. Additionally, some areas of the tour may be inaccessible for those who use accessibility devices. If this is of concern to you please contact [email protected].
