A Full Circle Journey 05/07/2026

We are thrilled to spotlight Kathleen Shearer, a nurse, parent, and current PhD student🩺✨

Kathleen has seen and experienced healthcare from every angle. After years of providing the "family voice" to pediatric research through our Pediatric Parent Advisory Group (P-PAG), she is now a graduate student at ECHO supported by a Women and Children's Health Research Institute (WCHRI) graduate studentship. Her work is helping to ensure that healthcare research is not just scientifically sound, but deeply meaningful to the families it serves.

Her work is made possible through the visionary support of the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation, whose commitment to WCHRI empowers researchers like Kathleen to transform pediatric care from the inside out. We are incredibly grateful for the historic 10-year investment in WCHRI provided by the Stollery Children's Hospital Foundation and the Alberta Women's Health Foundation.

A Full Circle Journey β€œIt’s an opportunity for students, for researchers β€” and for families who will benefit from what we learn,” says Kathleen.
