Have you ever noticed you hold your team to a clear standard, but not yourself?

You will tell them exactly what good looks like. Then you can justify letting your own work slide when you are tired or busy.

The standard you tolerate for yourself is the real one. Everyone feels where your line actually sits.

If I had to start over, I would stop waiting to feel motivated. Motivation shows up loud and leaves quietly.

I used to build my days around it. Bad idea. What actually changed how I operate was repetition.

The same small actions, done whether I felt like it or not. Feelings follow. They do not lead.

Takeaway: build the habit, and the motivation stops mattering.

Day 1. Sixteen calls.

That is the most calls I have made in a single day. Thirty years in a career where I have to generate my own results, and sixteen is the record.

Sit with that for a second. I did.

It is not that I could not have done this before. I have had thirty years of days available to me. I just did not, and I had good reasons every single time.

Twenty nine to go.

Day 1.

Today I ask for the sale. I ask for the introduction. I ask for the money.

Not because I am good at it. Because I am not.

Twenty years in and the fear of rejection still decides more of my week than I would like to admit. It does not show up as fear. It shows up as the call I didn't make, or the follow up I didn't send.

So I am going to practice it. Out loud, where you can see it.

Repetition is the only thing that has ever changed how I operate. This is day one of overcoming the fear of objection.
