Welcome to pêhonân. There is room.

pêhonân means "meeting place" in Nêhiyawêwin. For time immemorial, this land has been a place where Indigenous peoples gather to share stories, feast, celebrate, and build community. Today, that tradition continues.

New this year, pêhonân is centred around a community of mikiwahps (tipis) on the greenspace south of the Strathcona Community League. Follow the Buffalo Path to arrive at a space designed for reflection, learning, and connection.

Join us for Opening Ceremonies on Friday, August 14 at 1PM, featuring musical performances by Lyndon Aginas, Colten Bear, and Bobbi-Jo Starr, alongside visual art activations from Michael Jody Fraser, Celina Loyer, Doreen Cardinal, Anna Muskego, and Damian Abrahams.

We are proud to celebrate the successful completion of Aboriginal
Studies 30 and Physical Education 10! 🎉

This summer was filled with unforgettable experiences, meaningful learning, and lasting memories. From exploring the beauty of Elk Island National Park 🦬🌲 to enjoying friendly competition at Bowling 🎳 and exciting challenges at Activate ⚡(plus so much more!), our students embraced every opportunity for growth, connection, and fun.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Elders, Knowledge Keepers, teachers, and staff who shared their wisdom, guidance, and support throughout this journey. Your dedication helped create an enriching and memorable experience for our students, and we are truly grateful. ❤️

The Voices of Youth Indigenous Leaders 2026 program is now accepting applications! This national initiative brings together inspiring First Nations, Métis, and Inuit young leaders to share their experiences, ideas, and visions directly with Senators in Ottawa. Selected participants will have all travel and accommodation expenses covered while attending from October 27–29, 2026. ✨ Braided Journeys CALM 20 Summer School 2026 Has Come to an End! ✨

What an incredible few weeks it has been! Our Braided Journeys CALM 20 Summer School was filled with cultural teachings, mindfulness activities, creativity, grounding techniques, meaningful connections, and so much more.

From engaging lessons and hands-on experiences to fun field trips and delicious lunches, every day brought new opportunities to learn, grow, and support one another. The laughter, participation, and positive energy made this program truly special.

A huge thank you to all of our students who showed up every day, gave their best effort, and embraced each experience with open minds and hearts. We are so proud of each and every one of you.

We would also like to recognize our amazing staff for being the best cheerleaders, mentors, and role models. Your encouragement, dedication, and support helped make this summer a success.

Thank you to all the presenters and teachers who were part of the Braided Journeys CALM 20 Summer School journey. We leave with new skills, lasting memories, and stronger connections.

Adventurous Métis Youth aged 15-17, mark your calendars for two unforgettable weeks of exploration and learning at Painted Warriors Ranch () in Sundre, AB. Camp kicks off on July 26th 🗓️
