🍕🤝 Good pizza + great conversations = an awesome time!

Braided Journeys students at Holy Trinity recently had the opportunity to meet with Martin Mentors, and it was a fantastic way to kick off what promises to be another great year together. Students shared some delicious pizza, made new connections, and enjoyed meaningful conversations.

Martin Mentors is all about supporting students through mentorship, encouragement, relationship-building, and opportunities to help them reach their goals. We’re excited to continue growing this incredible partnership and seeing the positive impact it has on our students! 🧡✨

🧡 Every Orange Shirt Day, we come together to remember, reflect, and continue the journey toward truth and reconciliation. Across Edmonton Catholic Schools, Braided Journeys students and staff participated in meaningful activities, including watching the documentary What We Carry, attending Wellness Cafés, visiting the Legislature, sharing Tim Bits, and so much more.

We also recognize that this day can bring up strong emotions. Taking care of ourselves and one another is an important part of the journey, and we are grateful for the spaces, conversations, and supports that helped students connect, reflect, and heal. 🍂🧡

These moments of learning, connection, and reflection remind us that reconciliation is not a single day, but a commitment we carry forward together.

This past week, students from Elizabeth Seton and St. Edmund Jr High School spent a beautiful day at Five Freedoms Ranch Rescue, where they have the opportunity to attend monthly culture and land based, equine programming. This month they were welcomed with open hearts, by both people and horses.
Through cultural teachings and fun, interactive games with Elder Russell Auger, and Wanda Whitford, students built new friendships, shared lots of laughter, and created memories together. Our sharing circles gave students space to express how safe and connected they felt at the ranch, and how, even for just one day, they could forget about some of the challenges they carry.
And then there were the horses… gentle, rescued souls who seemed to have a special way of making each student feel seen, valued, and worthy of love and connection.
A day of culture. A day of laughter. A day of belonging.
Sometimes, one safe place and one caring connection can make all the difference. ❤️🐴
Thanks to the generous contribution of The Edmonton Community Foundation, 90 Indigenous students per month will have this opportunity to look forward to.
