We're pleased to welcome Cody Dunne as the keynote speaker at our upcoming Annual General Meeting!

Cody is an Emergency Medicine and Transport physician based out of Calgary. He currently serves as Lifesaving Society Canada's medical advisor, and is completing his PHD in Epidemiology with a focus on pre-hospital resuscitation interventions, including those used in drownings.

His presentation, "Oxygen and National Lifeguard," will discuss the effects of using oxygen therapy to treat lung injuries resulting from drowning, and offer practical steps to normalize oxygen therapy training into Canadian lifeguard programs.

Registration is still open for our Annual General Meeting on June 19 at Lacombe's Kinsmen Aquatic Centre!

Just like last year, we'll be welcoming some guest presenters to host free workshops for attendees in the afternoon!

With our member management system undergoing a major update in the near future, today's featured workshop will be an opportunity for affiliates to talk directly with the staff members working on the project.

Affiliates will get a walkthrough of the new platform and its features, and have the opportunity to ask questions.

This session is recommended for any registered Lifesaving Society affiliate members attending AGM!

This workshop is hosted by our Leadership Specialist, Alex Parker, and will be held from 3:00pm - 3:50pm in Multipurpose Room 2.

Today's featured workshop is about understanding the neurodivergent spectrum, and discovering tools for neuro-inclusive course delivery and mentorship.

Through classroom learning, fun quizzes, and activities in both large and small groups, participants will explore the importance of creating learning spaces that are accessible to all kinds of brains.

This session is recommended for instructors, trainers, coaches and supervisors looking for practical advice in working with neurodivergent individuals, but is open to all humans who facilitate learning for other humans!

This workshop is hosted by Victoria Mitchell, and will be held from 4:00pm - 4:50pm in Multipurpose Room 1.

The 2026 Canadian Pool Lifesaving Championships was held last weekend in Laval, Quebec, and 4 Alberta-based Lifesaving Sport clubs took part – the Calgary Winter Club Tsunamis, the Canadian Armed Forces Lifesaving Club, the Cochrane Water Ninjas, and Surf Central!

In total, they brought home:
27 gold🥇
13 silver🥈
15 bronze🥉

Not only that, but Surf Central placed 1st overall out of the 27 competing clubs!
