The deadline to apply for the Sport Edmonton Event Accelerator Fund Presented by Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels Ltd. is Friday, July 31st, 2026.

Total grant pool: $40,000
- Four (4) grants of $5,000 will be awarded during the 2026-27 season to existing events (one or more years experience)
- Two (2) grants of $10,000 will be awarded during the 2026-27 season to help start new events

Applicants must be an active Sport Edmonton Organizational Member at the time of application.

Connecting the Edmonton sports community, one playoff-clinching game at a time 🏀

A massive thank you to all the Sport Edmonton members and guests who joined us last Sunday! We got to connect and cheer on the Edmonton Stingers, as they punched their ticket to the CEBL playoffs.

From high-fives in the fan tunnel, to half-court shots, the energy was unreal from start to finish! We love bringing our local sports community together and can’t wait for the next one. Keep an eye on our page for details on our next member event.

Capital Power Summer Legends brings free athletics-based programming to 26 Green Shacks across Edmonton - Sport Edmonton 06/29/2026

Sport Edmonton, in partnership with Athletics Alberta, the Edmonton Federation of Community Leagues (EFCL), and the City of Edmonton - Local Government's Playground Program (Green Shacks), is proud to announce the launch of the Capital Power Summer Legends program, a new community-based initiative designed to help children discover the joy of movement, sport, and physical activity.

Capital Power Summer Legends is set to provide free introductory athletics-based programming at the 26 extended-hours (full-day) Green Shacks locations around the city from June 29 to August 21. Delivered through the City of Edmonton’s beloved Green Shack program, the initiative will introduce kids ages 6-12 to the fundamental skills of running, jumping, and throwing through fun, inclusive, and age-appropriate activities.

The drop-in program is part of Sport Edmonton and EFCL’s Play Where You Live strategy, which is focused on removing common barriers to participation, including cost, transportation, and registration requirements, ensuring more children have the opportunity to be active and engaged throughout the summer months.

Introducing Metro Movers! 💃 🏢

Sport Edmonton has teamed up with Image School of Dance to launch a FREE 8 week summer dance initiative in the heart of downtown Edmonton. Running every Tuesday morning from July 7 to August 25 at O-day’min Park, Metro Movers is designed to activate our downtown green spaces and foster creative confidence in children aged 3–12.

With over 30 years of instructional expertise, Image School of Dance will lead weekly sessions in ballet, jazz, and hip-hop to help kids develop physical literacy and social skills in a fun, inclusive environment.

We're proud to launch a new $40,000 fund that supports local event hosting, driving economic and community impact.

Local sport organizations looking to launch a new event, or take their existing event to the next level, now have more help with the launch of the Sport Edmonton Event Accelerator Fund, Powered by Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels.

The fund will support a total of six events hosted in Edmonton over the 2026-27 sport season, providing grants of $5,000 (for four existing events) and $10,000 (for two new events), along with added support from Sport Edmonton. Part of that added support will be the Sport Edmonton Partnership Program, pooling event assets to create a single touchpoint for corporate Edmonton to invest in local sport.

Applications for the Sport Edmonton Event Accelerator Fund, Powered by Edmonton Destination Marketing Hotels are now being accepted (application deadline of July 31, 2026).
