In Google Chrome... when you bookmark a site...

RIGHT CLICK on the bookmark

Choose "Edit"

You can remove the bookmark title if the favicon is enough, or edit to be a lot shorter to give yourself more room on the bookmark bar.

Speaking of, create a folder in the bookmark bar to organize like items.

You can DRAG the bookmark icons around on the toolbar.

I really wish Google Drive had an "archive" feature. 😥

My solution is to create a folder called "archive" and dump all of my old files that I'm not actively using inside.

The start of a new year is a great time to "hide" all of your old files so it's easier to find the files you use on a daily basis. 🤗

One of my tricks when using Google Docs document tabs is...

NO CONTENT on the first tab

I invite people to look at the tabs. Maybe a welcome and explanation of the document.

I should not be surprised, the Workspace Studio icon updated.

It's in your school account.
Go to Gmail
Look in the upper right... do you see the Studio icon?

This allows you to automate things like "Automatically assess the importance of each email in my inbox and label them. Important ones add to a Google Tasks list. Really important ones, make me a Google Slides presenting the information."

Or things that are not Gmail. Automate your workflows!!

I asked Google Gemini to make me a list of 300 possible Gems that educators might like. Apparently I have "personalization" turned on so it included a ton of suggestions for things I have prompted before such as "Lemon pound cake modifier" (IYKYK)

When you use NotebookLM

YOU choose the sources that the AI answers questions from.

Use sources you normally can't use with your students (above grade level content like a dissertation)

Ask NotebookLM to rewrite it at a 3rd grade level

Add that response as a source and create a video based on the simplified text to share with your students.

I just used NotebookLM to sift through a LOOONG rulebook for the 9U baseball team I am coaching this year. AI helped me quickly find rules and policies that are specific to my age group.

This is a real-world example of how AI can help you save time and access the information you need.
