🌱🐰 Sensory Play & Spring Exploration in Our Classroom! 🐦🌿
This week our classroom is full of hands-on learning and imaginative play inspired by spring!
🥕 Carrot Sensory Bin
Our sensory table is filled with black beans as the “soil,” where children are digging, scooping, and discovering hidden carrots. We’ve added egg cartons to act as garden beds, giving the children a chance to “plant” and “harvest” their carrots. There are also carrot-shaped eggs that can be opened and filled with “seeds,” along with planters, scoops, and shovels to encourage fine motor skills, creativity, and pretend gardening.
🐦 Bird’s Nest Tough Tray
Our tough tray has been transformed into a cozy bird’s nest scene, complete with grass, leaves, nests, and small birds. The children are using the birds to pick up worms and “feed” them to others, exploring nurturing play and storytelling. With birdhouses and natural materials, this setup encourages curiosity about nature and how animals care for their young.
🔬 Science Centre – All About Birds
In our science centre, we are diving deeper into learning about birds! The children can explore a variety of feathers, different types of eggs, and bird life cycles. This area invites hands-on discovery, encourages questions, and helps build an understanding of how birds grow and live in our world.
These playful invitations support sensory exploration, imaginative thinking, and early science learning—all while having so much fun! 🌼

We are diving into a ROAR-some adventure as we explore the fascinating world of dinosaurs! Our classroom has transformed into a hands-on prehistoric learning experience full of discovery, imagination, and fun.
⛏️ Dinosaur Dig Site
In our sensory bin, little paleontologists are digging, scooping, and uncovering hidden dinosaur fossils—just like real scientists!
🔍 Dinosaur Exploration Centre
Under our loft, we’ve created a special space filled with fossils, bones, measuring tools, and a variety of dinosaur models. The children are comparing sizes, examining details, and learning how dinosaurs lived long ago.
🌋 Dinosaur Play Area
Our dramatic play space features volcanoes, land, and lakes where dinosaurs can roam and explore. This area encourages storytelling, creativity, and imaginative play.
🪨 Science Centre: Rocks & Minerals
We are also learning all about rocks and minerals! The children have the opportunity to explore different fossils, observe textures, and discover how fossils are formed.

Next week in our classroom we are exploring and learning in so many fun, hands-on ways!
Our St. Patrick’s Day sensory bins will be a big hit! 🍀 The children will have the opportunity to scoop and pour shamrocks and gold coins, strengthening their fine motor skills while practicing counting and sharing. They are also adding their “gold” to a beautiful rainbow, sparking imaginative play and colourful conversations about rainbows and lucky treasures!
In our Science Centre, we are diving into an “All About Colour” theme 🎨🔬. The children will be exploring different colours, noticing similarities and differences, and discovering how colours can mix and change.
We love watching the children learn through play, exploration, and creativity each day. 💛

Our classroom has been buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and hands-on learning!
In our dramatic play center, the children have been busy at our very own post office—writing letters, sorting mail, and delivering messages to friends. This has been a wonderful way to practice early literacy, social skills, and imaginative play.
Our Valentine’s Day sensory bins are giving little hands lots to explore through scooping, pouring, and sorting, while also encouraging language and cooperative play.
At the science table, we’ve been building and exploring polar regions, learning about cold climates, ice, and the animals that live there. This exploration continues on our light table, where children are investigating winter animals, ice, and mountain landscapes, noticing details, experimenting with light, and asking great questions.
So much learning is happening through play as we explore winter themes, science concepts, and social connections together! ❄️💌🐧

Over the past few weeks, the children have been very busy exploring, learning, and playing through a variety of hands-on activities in the classroom.
In our dramatic play center, we set up a veterinary clinic. The children have enjoyed caring for animals, pretending to be vets, pet owners, and helpers, and practicing empathy, communication, and imaginative play.
In the science center, we have been learning all about nocturnal animals. The children explored which animals are awake at night, where they live, and how they adapt to the dark. This sparked lots of great conversations and curiosity.
Our sensory bin has been transformed into a polar animals experience, where children explored textures and materials while learning about animals that live in cold climates.
At the art and craft table, the children have been busy creating winter-themed projects, including snowmen, penguins, and polar bears, using a variety of materials to support creativity and fine motor development.
It has been wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited as they learn through play.

🚀 Blast Off Into Our Space Theme! 🌙✨
Our preschool classroom has officially launched into outer space, and the children are already loving every moment of exploration and discovery! 🌌
Here’s what we’ve set up:
🛰️ Space Station Dramatic Play Centre
Children can dress up as astronauts, “blast off” into space, and work together on missions. Dramatic play helps build imagination, language skills, cooperation, and confidence as they take on new roles and work as a team.
🌟 Space Sensory Bin
Filled with stars, planets, and galactic loose parts, our sensory bin gives children a chance to explore textures, practice fine motor skills, and develop early math and science concepts through hands-on play.
🔭 Space Science Centre
We’re beginning our learning with the moon—exploring its phases, surface, and what makes it unique! Science centres encourage curiosity, experimentation, problem-solving, and early inquiry skills.
🚀 Space Table
A table filled with rockets, spaceships, astronauts, and planets lets children dive into imaginative small-world play. This kind of play builds storytelling skills, fine motor development, creativity, and understanding of basic space concepts.
✨ Why Space Play Matters
Space-themed learning invites children to ask big questions, experiment, imagine, and explore. Through play, they’re building early STEM skills, expanding vocabulary, strengthening social skills, and developing confidence in their own ideas.
We’re so excited to see where their imaginations take them this month! 🌙💫

🎃👻 This week our preschool classroom is full of spooky fun and hands-on learning! From our pumpkin patch dramatic play centre to our science and sensory exploration areas, the children have been busy imagining, creating, and discovering.
Through play, they’ve been developing important skills — practicing cooperation and communication in dramatic play, exploring pumpkins inside and out at our science centre, strengthening fine motor skills with Halloween crafts, and using their senses to sort, scoop, and investigate in our sensory bin.
It’s amazing to see how much learning can happen when children are fully engaged and having fun! 🍂🕸️✨
