Moving to a new province in Grade 6 is hard enough. Add starting a new school, and it can feel impossible to find where you belong. 💚

That's the story of one student in our Movement & Mindset program,a girls' initiative under Everybody Plays, created with Lawrence Grassi Middle School and Right from the Start. The program gives girls a place after school to play, connect, and try new things like arts and crafts, without pressure.

By the end of the program, she told us: "It made me feel like I belonged here after leaving the province I was born in. It helped me love art. It made me like school."

What if the walk to school was something kids looked forward to, instead of something they had to get through?

For one student, that walk used to be filled with anxiety, holding tight to his dad's hand the whole way, letting go only once he was through the doors. Every morning, one of our Drop and Go Ambassadors was there, waiting. Every morning, he said no.

Slowly, he let the ambassador walk alongside them. And then, one morning, he let go of his father's hand entirely, walking the rest of the way beside his new friend instead.

These are the moments we work for at Ever Active: turning a stressful school commute into a chance for connection, confidence, and joy. 💛

Big news! 🎉 One of our resources recently won a Silver award at the 2026 MUSE Creative Awards!

Created together with Xpan Interactive, this program helps Grade 4-6 students navigate puberty in a way that feels safe, fun, and actually engaging. This comes to life in a randomized board game called "My Path to Puberty" and a super cool 3D tool called the "Support Solar System" that helps kids map out who they can turn to for support.

Too many kids today are moving less, feeling less connected, and missing out on opportunities to thrive.

That's where Everybody Plays comes in. This initiative helps schools and communities create more opportunities for every child to move, connect, and grow.

One example: Movement & Mindset, an out-of-school program in Canmore that gave girls a space for play, art, and connection. We asked participants what it meant to them. From feeling like they belong to making new friends, the impact speaks for itself.

The results: 90% of participants moved more, 16,000+ children and youth reached, and 91% said the program helped them feel like they belong.

More play. More movement. More opportunities to belong. That's what Everybody Plays is all about.

Yesterday our team had the privilege of attending and supporting the Healing Together Powwow at Onespot Crossing Campground, an experience made possible by the incredible leadership of Dr. Teena Starlight, National Director of IYMP - Indigenous Youth Mentorship Program. Her dedication to bringing people together across cultures to celebrate is nothing short of inspiring.

We also joined a morning nature walk, learning about the land and the different medicines it provides (the wild strawberries were a definite favourite!). Experiences like this are a powerful reminder of our connection to the land, and why preserving it, and only taking what we need, matters so much.

Thank you to all the supporters and partners who brought this event to life. It was truly an honour to be part of it. 💚
