Since March 2020, we haven’t been posting much on social media as our attention was saving our business during the global pandemic. Thankfully due to partnerships with NAIT and Lakeland college paramedic programs, School of HEART survived and is back to thriving with more resilience than ever.
We are currently in Anjuna, Goa, working with Tribal Warriors gym, who are hosting The Art of Combat event on Wednesday the 22nd of December. School of HEART is proud to be the corporate sponsor of this event.
You may wonder why a company based in love, peace and community has partnered with a martial arts group? Looking beyond violence, the Art of Combat is about empowerment. Our experience of Kickboxing aligns with a 2019 study of MMA, which showed at-risk youth who participated in Kickboxing and MMA became more confident and increased personal growth when surrounded by positive role models. The participants also felt they could be vulnerable and open to talking about su***de, drug use and mental health challenges. We at School of HEART are invested in Health and all of the ways to empower individuals.
The Art of Combat has kids bouts, Junior Female Kickboxing title, Indian National titles and MMA. Brett and Sadie will ensure medical attention is provided and are honoured to be part of an Indian National event here in Goa.

In honour of international women’s day, School of Heart is proud to announce our sponsorship of Tribal Warriors in Goa, India. Led by Bonny Sinary , Tribal Warriors strengthens community and empowers women & young girls through martial arts instruction. This is highlighted by Leen, an 11 yr. old Goan girl with amazing talent and strength, currently holding the state championship. Our donation to the gym was used to develop a bag zone where all participants can grow their skills and unleash their power, while supporting each other to become the best version of themselves. We are excited to continue our relationship with Tribal Warriors in the years to come.

Now that’s interesting

This is the DEATH MASK of a young woman who drowned in the River Seine in the 1880s. As was customary in those days, her co**se was put on display in the Paris mortuary, in the hope that someone might recognize her and claim her body. The pathologist on duty became entranced by the girl with the enigmatic half-smile, and so he commissioned a plaster cast made of her face. This mask was replicated many times over. She became known as "L'Inconnue de la Seine,” or “The Unknown Woman of the Seine.”

In 1955, a toymaker named Asmund Laerdal created what we now know as the CPR doll. Asmund wanted his mannequin to have a natural appearance. Remembering a mask on the wall of his grandparents' house many years earlier, he decided that the L'Inconnue de la Seine would become the face of Resusci Anne - the CPR doll. So you see, this anonymous woman who drowned in the 19th century is responsible for saving many, many lives the world over. It is said that she has the most kissed face of all time. I hope you enjoyed this little tale!
