A meaningful day of learning, creating, and connecting! 🧡

We had the pleasure of partnering with Kickstand GP for a Ribbon Skirt Workshop, where participants learned about the cultural significance of ribbon skirts and had the opportunity to create their own.

A special thank you to our team member, Dani, for sharing her sewing skills and helping bring each participant’s creation to life!

We’re grateful for opportunities like this that bring people together to learn, connect and celebrate culture through hands-on experiences.

Hot off the press! Our 2025-2026 Impact Report is here đź“–

This past year was a meaningful one at Ballad as we expanded our presence across Alberta, growing to more than 90 employees across 13 offices while strengthening the work happening across our programs and services.

Through our employment services, we supported 842 Albertans in building skills and moving toward meaningful employment. Our consulting team also worked alongside communities and organizations across 24 projects focused on creating long-term economic impact.

This year’s theme, Investing in People. Strengthening Programs. Engaging Employers., reflects the work behind that growth and the partnerships that continue to move it forward.

Our WERC Whitecourt participants recently visited Tri-Steel Salvage Ltd. for a shop and yard tour ​​⛓️

During the visit, participants learned more about Tri-Steel’s operations, community involvement and what it takes to work in the industry.

Workplace tours like this give participants a firsthand look inside local businesses, helping them better understand workplace environments, employer expectations and potential job opportunities.

Kicking off a new AgStream cohort in our WERC Red Deer program đźšś

The first few days included Chainsaw and Chipper training with Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC, along with a visit to the Olds College campus to learn the basics of electrical systems. It’s been a great start for this cohort, with plenty more learning and hands-on experiences ahead!

Through our partnership with Olds College of Agriculture & Technology, participants will continue building practical skills through classroom learning, hands-on training, and industry experiences designed to help prepare them for the workforce.

We’re excited to announce our strategic partnership with SAIT to deliver the Introduction to Energy-Efficient & Sustainable Construction Program as part of WERC Calgary 🧡

We kicked off our first cohort this week, and our participants had the opportunity to tour the SAIT campus as they began learning about the skills and practices shaping Alberta’s evolving construction industry.

Through six applied learning modules, the program combines classroom learning with hands-on construction and covers topics such as building science, high-performance construction, renovation and maintenance, and energy-efficient building practices. Participants will also connect with industry through guest speakers and site tours, gaining practical exposure to emerging skills and career pathways.

We’re excited to work alongside SAIT to provide participants with industry-relevant training that connects learning to the realities of today’s construction sector and helps prepare them for what comes next.

As part of our youth mentorship program, we honoured Truth and Reconciliation through youth voices, creativity and connection. 🧡

Our participants took the lead in creating something meaningful to them, from developing their own logo and choosing the design and placement to selecting the clothing they would screen print it on.

More than a creative activity, the session provided space for youth to explore culture, identity and what Truth and Reconciliation means to them.

We are grateful for the opportunity to listen, learn and create together.

An evening of connection, conversation and community at the WorkFirst Alberta Summit Evening Mixer! 🧡

We were pleased to bring together attendees for an evening of networking and meaningful conversations as part of the WorkFirst Alberta Summit.

The evening also featured a special pop-up from Change Is Good YYC by Calgary Dream Centre, along with an art auction showcasing pieces from Prospect Human Services Art Collective.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so memorable. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, share ideas and build relationships with people from across Alberta.

That’s a wrap on the 2026 WorkFirst Alberta Summit! 👏

Over two days, we welcomed more than 700 attendees to the Edmonton EXPO Centre for meaningful conversations and a shared focus on strengthening Alberta’s workforce.

This year’s theme, "Real Workforce Results. A Stronger Alberta.", came to life throughout the Summit as employers, service providers, government, community organizations, and workforce professionals came together to share what’s working and explore how we can better support Albertans on their path to employment.

A few highlights from this year’s Summit:

• 700+ attendees
• 25 sessions featuring 24 speakers
• 76 exhibitors at the Job Fair

Beyond the numbers, the Summit was about bringing Alberta’s workforce community together in one place. From the conversations happening on stage to the connections made at the Job Fair, networking lounge, and simulated worksite tours, it was incredible to see so many people focused on creating stronger pathways to employment across the province.

A huge thank you to our partners, speakers, exhibitors, and volunteers for the role each of you played in bringing the Summit to life.

And of course, thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the 2026 WorkFirst Alberta Summit such a meaningful event.

The Summit may be over, but the work continues. We’re excited to carry this momentum forward and continue working toward a stronger Alberta.

Day 2 brought another full day of energy to the 2026 WorkFirst Alberta Summit. Take a look back at some of the moments that closed out this year’s event. 🎥

We returned for another full day of sessions and conversations focused on strengthening Alberta’s workforce.

The Job Fair continued throughout the day, giving job seekers the chance to connect directly with employers and access career supports. We also opened our Simulated Worksite Tours at Ballad and YOUCAN Youth Services, giving attendees a closer look at hands-on employment programming and how participants build practical skills in a worksite environment.

Throughout the day, attendees heard from speakers, explored resources available through WorkFirst Alberta, and joined conversations focused on how we can better support Albertans on their path to employment.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped bring so much energy to these two days. Let’s keep the momentum going!

What an incredible first day at the 2026 WorkFirst Alberta Summit! đź‘Ź

We welcomed more than 600 attendees to the Edmonton EXPO Centre for a day filled with energy, meaningful conversations, new connections, and a shared commitment to strengthening Alberta’s workforce.

Day 1 kicked off with remarks from the Honourable Nathan Neudorf and Rachel Villatoro, setting the tone for a day focused on real workforce results, collaboration, and the work happening across Alberta to support people, employers, and communities.

From conversations on the Main Stage and Breakout Stage to connections happening throughout the Summit, the Job Fair, and everywhere in between, it was incredible to see Alberta’s workforce community come together in one place.

And we’re not done yet. We’re looking forward to another full day of conversations, ideas, and connections for Day 2!
