ARTIST TALK - Noelle Wharton Ayer

Join us tonight, October 10 from 6-7 for Noelle's artist talk!

Currently working out of , Noelle has joined us this week to install her exhibition, A Night Garden. We've been excited about this exhibition for months, and we cant wait for folks to experience the presence of this show.

Here is a little more about Noelle and her practice:

Noelle Wharton-Ayer is a multi-disciplinary artist currently living in Quebec City. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in visual arts from York University and a Master’s degree in visual arts from Laval University. Her work has been presented in group and solo exhibitions in Canada and Europe. Since 2019, Noelle has worked as a freelance community arts practitioner in the Quebec City region. Upcoming collective exhibitions include NightFall at the Robert Mclaughlin Gallery in Oshawa, Ontario in the fall of 2026, and the collaborative project Terre et Mer at the Museum of Rimouski with artist Audrée Demers-Roberge in the fall of 2027.

Opening this week: Noelle Wharton-Ayer / A Night Garden and Gracie Safranovich / above below beneath beside.

October 10 - November 7.

Snap invites members and guests to the opening reception for Noelle Wharton-Ayer and Gracie Safranovich. Join us this Saturday, October 10 from 7-9 for the first look at both exhibitions!

Noelle ( ) is joining us from Quebec and her exhibition features a collection of photograms and chemigrams alongside sculptural installation. The works are so beautifully rich, and its been a joy to watch the show come together this week.

Gracie ( ) is one of our Emerging Artists in Residence, and has been working non-stop in the space. Her exhibition features a suite of etching works, alongside some sculptural print works. Its been so great having Gracie with us, and we can't wait to share her exhibition with our community!

We hope to see you on Saturday to celebrate the openings of both exhibitions!

Special Events Committee is looking for members!

The SEC is one of our committees dedicated to events and event planning! Members meet several times a year to plan small lower stakes events and activation, alongside things like Print Affair! Committee work can look like anything from event planning to crafting! (Remember last years print affair clouds? brought to you from our hardworking SEC).

We like to think this is maybe the most fun committee, but its also important to note the value of the work thats expected from its members! In return for your hard work you can log volunteer hours to gain access to the shop! 20hrs = 1 month of free access!

Time to dust off your membership card (or purchase a new one) and apply for our annual exhibition opportunity for members!

SNAP is excited to invite all Members to participate in the 2026 Members Show & Sale! Submission deadline is November 11th, with art drop-off taking place between November 11-16.

Your support of SNAP’s Members Show and Sale helps sustain our printshop, exhibitions, and programming, and allows SNAP to keep bringing our community together through printmaking magic! Funds raised go directly to supporting artists in our city: providing affordable facilities, paid exhibition opportunities & education programs.

Book Arts Bootcamp is being retired - Last chance to register!

Boot Arts Bootcamp is one of our most popular classes and the lovely Dawn Woolsey has decided this will be its last iteration! If you want to take this class, this weekend is your last chance!

By popular demand! Join us for another round of this fast paced and comprehensive introduction to tools and techniques to make your own artist books. Under the expert guidance of instructor Dawn Woolsey, participants will learn both Japanese hardcover and softcover fukuro-toji bindings with traditional and contemporary stitching patterns; lined and unlined pamphlet and dos-a-dos for pocket sketchbooks and journals; soft and hardcover accordion with cutouts and additions, matchbooks and several folded book forms.

No experience necessary, all materials and tools will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own prints and papers to add to your work.

As always, SNAP members get 10% off all classes! Register before the weekend to save one of the last spots in this class!

SNAP invites members and guests to Print Affair 26 on Saturday, November 21st!

This year we’re planning a disco party to out-do all the rest! Get ready to boogie on down to SNAP for a night of unforgettable fun.

As far as we’re concerned, the disco era started and didn't dare to stop and this year's theme invites every interpretation. Bell Bottoms, Sequins, Roller Skates and more: Disco is forever! Coupled with the launch of our Annual Members Show and Sale, this is an evening to celebrate our unique community and all that we do!

Alongside the art, you can anticipate a raffle for local goods and services, festive food and drink, live music, print activities, and an award (or two…) for the most dedicated and dynamic ‘fits!

Mirrorball runs from 7- late! Golden Hour is this year's VIP event , offering exclusive perks and first dibs on the Members Show and Sale! Taking place from 6-7pm on the night of the event, this is a great way to support SNAP and get your hands on your new favorite artwork!

ARTIST TALK - Friday Smith

Join us tomorrow, Sept 17 from 6-7 for Friday's artist talk!

Friday is a local artist and second generation printmaker who makes lovely installation and fabric based work that deals with loss and grief.

Here is a little more about Friday and his practice:

Friday smith (he/him) is a settler living and working on Treaty 6 territory in amiskwaciwâskahikan. Part diary part fantasy, his practice spans textiles, printmaking & ceramics. Friday is interested in the play between abstraction and legibility - and what can be learned from the inbetween. He works from a home studio with his two cats, Truck and Alfie.

Are you in need of a fall purge, too? We are accepting donations of art supplies, office supplies, materials, or tech that still has some life left in it!

Please arrange drop off during SNAP office hours. All items must be approved by SNAP staff. SNAP reserves the right to refuse items. If you are unsure of the
usefulness of an item, please contact us in advance, and we will let you know if we can take it or not! All remaining items at the end of the sale will be donated
to Boyle Street or the Reuse Center! All funds generated through the sale go back to supporting SNAP and all the fun things we do!

Fall and Winter 2026 classes are now live on our website! We have a variety of classes and workshops for everyone from beginners to experienced printmakers! We're so fortunate to have a full roster of experienced and dedicated instructors who are passionate about people and print!

Don't see something you like? We offer 1:1 tailored sessions in most print processes! Reach out to Myken ([email protected]) with your project or wildest print dreams, and she will get to work on setting you up with a skilled instructor who can help you through start to finish!
