We are told, if you slow down, you get left behind. Procrastinating destroys momentum and slows progress. In the printmaking world, procrastination risks dried-in screens, or joyful hours lost to preparing and organizing materials with no artwork to show. Artists can feel compelled to feed the algorithm with an endless stream of content or risk irrelevancy, even if the content is a form of procrastination from other “work”.

Our brains however, need rest and downtime. We need moments of quiet, uncomfortable boredom, idle hands, and quiet minds. We need time to process the input of mass amounts of information and how it relates to our output of words, images, feelings, and intent. Rather than seeing procrastination as an enemy, could we embrace it as a necessary element of our practice? This fall, Procrastination Press (a risograph collaboration by Andrew Benson & April Dean) is taking over SNAPline for a special risograph printed edition. We welcome submissions exploring the theme of procrastination as an intentional, valuable, and intuitive part of creative practice.

We are so excited for this edition in partnership with ! Please visit our website (link in bio) to read the entire call!

Send your pitch for a written contribution and/or risograph printed artwork to [email protected] by 11:59 p.m. Sunday, July 5, 2026.

UPCOMING EXHIBITIONS: Nadia Zamora Hernandez /You know where your house is and Victoria Day / In Hindsight.

July 4 - August 1

We can't wait to have these exhibitions in our space! Its been an absolute joy to have Nadia working in our space as an EAiR! She's been livening up letterpress (and the rest of the studio for that matter) from the moment she arrived, and we're so grateful for our time with her.

Victoria will be joining us from Toronto, and we're over the moon about her show! Its been so lovely to see the work come along over social media, and we cant wait to see it irl. There are so many lovely things happening within that work, and Victoria has been producing new stuff in a wild way!

Mark your calendars! Check our website for more information about each artist and their practice!

Summer Students 2026 : Last but CERTAINLY not least, is Ambar!!

Ambar is joining us as 2/2 Community Outreach Co-ordinator!

Hi! My name is Amber or Ambar (whichever you prefer!) (she/her), and I’m joining SNAP this summer as the Community Arts Coordinator! I’m a multidisciplinary artist, photographer, and incoming MFA student at the University of Alberta, working primarily in printmaking and photography. My work often explores memory, identity, and connection through tactile and image-based processes.

Outside of SNAP, I’m typically in another studio, playing with mud, or somewhere outside. I love a good coffee, but I love my two dogs even more. I’m so excited to spend the summer with the wonderful community at SNAP!

Ambar has been around SNAP in several contexts, and we're so glad to have her back in the space in this capacity!
