“It takes a village to raise a child.” Our families were invited to write a wish for their child for the school year a little while ago. Thought we should share our community 💙

Creating intentional, inviting environments… this week we are trying chair yoga! This supports the development of flexibility, balance and overall strength! Our mighty learners expressed their excitement and laughed a lot.

Some provocation reflection: I wonder how the children will use the materials? I wonder if they’ve explored buttons at home or in their community? I wonder what creations the children will build and share?

We hope everyone had a fantastic weekend! We had so much fun last week. We turned into moons, stars, ghosts and vampires during our yoga practice.

At our program we step away from the consumerism side of holidays and focus on the WHY behind them. With Halloween, day of the dead and Samhain just around the corner, we actively discuss the why behind these holidays.

Children are encouraged to engage in cooperative play. We observe opportunities to explore, play and work as a team!

We are so thankful for the past 4 years that Ms. Joca was our classroom teacher with Blue Quill Playschool. Her warm and caring spirit, her encouraging and positive demeanor, and her calm and thoughtful personality will be extremely missed by our families and students. Her passion for early eduation and her depth of knowledge of a child-centered approach to learning was evident in all she did in the classroom, and her passion for each and every student was felt by all, in her care, concern, and love for every child who came through her doors! Her sense of joy and excitment was evident in all she did with the children, and she was always in the middle of the fun, whether it was a dance party, yoga session, bouncy castle, guacamole making, and she can sure crush a Piñata at a party!
Ms. Joca has made the difficult decision to not return to Blue Quill Playschool this coming year, and while we will miss you Ms. Joca, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors and time spent focusing on your family! For all you have done for the Playschool, and to bringing us to where we are today, we love you, muchas gracias!

Books about recycling and composting that our children love!

Teaching kids about recycling and other environmental issues is an important step in making sure they become thoughtful adults.

Earth Day. Everybody all over the country tries to pitch in and do something that could help the planet we live in, Earth. Is like a big Spring clean up day!

You probably have a recycling system already in place at home. Discuss it and ask your child for more ideas on how to reuse, reduce and recycle! You will be surprised at what they have to say!

Make everyday Earth Day 🌎

This year due to the pandemic, unfortunately one of our favourite places to get recycled materials from, the reuse centre, is closed. However, through out this challenging year, where single use items have become prevalent again, is more important than ever to find ways to reduce, reuse and recycle everyday.

We are happy that we have found creative ways to continue to supply our program with recycled materials from the community thrift shops and our families’ collective efforts in donating recycled items for art invitations and creative play.

We ❤️ Earth.
