Small Sprouts Preschool

We released our butterflies this week. All but one survived our rearing.
We also mimicked the process by making our own in the classroom.
Now we have our homemade butterflies in our class tree.

Some guests arrived this week.…

This is very hard to do but probably very true.
Since we are learning about insects this month I would add be kind to them also.

Finger painting turns into hand painting and one big mess.

A few things we have been doing during our Help Our Earth - 3 R’s unit…

Students made something from our bin of recyclables to take home. Students sorted all sorts of items into metal, glass, plastic and paper products.
We are letting our old markers rest in water then will use the water to paint with. We will pass along the markers to Staples Recycling Program.

Not everything goes according to plan. These were meant to be rainbow colours across the page but kids kidda did their own thing. 🤷‍♀️

Some snippets of our work with numbers this month.
We are seeing and counting with numbers all the time at school but this month we are diving in.

Lov’in our polar bears.

-Cut out a polar bear from newspaper
-Dip it in water till completely wet
-Lay him flat on paper
-Add paint around him being careful not to move him
-Peel him off

Voila

Open House in the neighborhood.

Look at these masterpieces.
We read The Snowy Day by Ezra Jack Keats and wanted to make a scene like in the book.
These are my younger students pieces.

Aren’t these the cutest little penguin books. Next stop on our Polar Animals Unit is walruses and polar bears.
