Capilano Playschool Capilano Playschool is a community based, parent co-operative playschool for 3 & 4 year olds, located in Hardisty School.

We follow a "learn through play" philosophy providing children with a fun and supportive early learning environment. We offer a full-time program (5 mornings a week) from 8:45am to 11:15 am as well as part-time options (3 days M/W/F or 2 days T/Th). Our community based programming promotes social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development while nurturing the child's desire to learn. We pro

vide time for action songs, outdoor activities, and physical development. We believe that children should be free to explore art materials and to express themselves without adult restrictions and expectations placed on their work. Our goal is to be a fun and happy place for all our families. We hope that you and your child will create long-lasting friendships through your association with Capilano Playschool. Our objective is to encourage development of the whole child through building physical and intellectual abilities, contributing to the development of a positive self-concept, and ultimately encourage the desire to learn

Well it’s August, and that can only mean one thing…

SCHOOL IS ALMOST BACK! 🍎

So - let us reintroduce ourselves:

Hi, we’re Capilano Playschool, and we’re so glad you’re here! 👋🏻

As a community based parent cooperative, we pride ourselves on balancing free play and creativity with the literacy and writing skills they will continue to build on during kindergarten. Parents get to be involved and watch their child thrive in the classroom!

With field trips, show and share opportunities, and regular outdoor play, there’s never a dull moment.

And that’s a wrap on the Capilano Playschool 2025/2026 year! 🍎☀️

Our students had a wonderful 10 months of collaborative play, crafting, physical activity and adventure. Some highlights for our families were the students special “Busy Bear” 🐻 days, all of our field trips, and meeting new friends!

From all of us here at Capilano Playschool, we hope all of our students have a wonderful summer! ❤️

Congratulations and good luck to our graduates who are moving on to kindergarten 🎓and we can’t wait to see some familiar faces back in the fall. We are still accepting registrations for the upcoming year - we’d love to welcome new friends to our class! 📚

“It’s time to add a pinch of adventure, a sprinkle of sunshine and a big handful of outdoor play” - Penny Whitehouse ☀️🍉

This week our students got to hit the pavement on their scooters and bikes! Not only did they get some physical activity in, but it also allowed them to learn more about safety (like wearing a helmet and being aware), as well as bike etiquette (such as giving adequate space to others).

After a loop around the school, they loved being able to race around the track in the courtyard 💨

Note that Hardisty School’s front doors will NOT be open, instead please use the south entrance (by the parking lot) and ring the doorbell to be let in, shown below
