This year marks 150 years since the signing of Treaty 6, a significant anniversary that calls us to reflect on the commitments, relationships, and responsibilities that being on Treaty 6 territory represents.

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Edmonton Catholic Teachers Local 54 stands with residential school survivors, their families, and communities. We honor the children who never returned home, the survivors whose experiences continue to shape generations, and the strength and resilience of Indigenous Peoples in Canada.

As educators, we have a responsibility to listen, learn, and act. We at Edmonton Catholic Teachers Local 54, are committed to honoring the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and continuing the work of reconciliation within our schools, our communities and our profession.

Most importantly, we remain committed to creating learning environments where Indigenous histories, cultures, languages, and experiences are respected and represented, and where Every Child Matters.

Together we remember those who have walked before us as we walk towards reconciliation.

It was so great to meet and connect with some of the new teachers joining Edmonton Catholic! ❤️ There’s something pretty special about welcoming new educators into the profession—and even more special when you run into former students who are now teachers themselves! 🥰

Beginning Teachers Conference is held every fall for all teachers in their 1st or 2nd year and provides some excellent professional development and networking opportunities!

Welcome to Edmonton Catholic Local 54! We are ao happy you are here!
