Most of us are taught how to communicate, negotiate, lead, and collaborate. Yet very few of us are ever taught how to understand conflict itself.
And that's interesting, because conflict is everywhere.
It shows up at work, around boardroom tables, on project teams, between managers and employees, in customer interactions, at home, and even in our communities.
The challenge isn't that conflict exists; it's that many of us lack the tools and confidence to navigate it effectively.
That's why we're offering the course ๐จ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ this .
Whether you're a professional, manager, supervisor, tradesperson, service provider, parent, teen, or team member, these skills can strengthen your relationships and expand your professional toolkit.

I'd spent weeks preparing for the meeting.
I had the data. I had the recommendations. I knew the project inside and out.
Then the discussion started.
A few strong personalities dominated the conversation. I hesitated. I waited for the "right moment" to speak. By the time I finally shared my perspective, the group had already moved on.
Afterward, I found myself replaying the meeting in my head:
"Why didn't I say something sooner?"
Many of us have been there.
The challenge isn't that we don't have valuable ideas, needs, or perspectives. It's that expressing them confidently can feel uncomfortable, especially when emotions, conflict, power dynamics, or high stakes are involved.
That's why we are offering the online course ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐๐
๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป this fall.
Participants will leave with practical skills, increased confidence, and opportunities to practice approaches they can immediately apply in their daily lives, workplaces, and conflict situations.
Join us this hashtag September and discover how assertive communication can help you be heard without overpowering others!

Today, on Red Shirt Day of Action for Accessibility and Inclusion, we join Canadians across the country in recognizing the importance of creating communities, workplaces, and systems where everyone can participate fully and equitably.
At the ADR Institute of Alberta, we believe that access to justice, dispute resolution, and professional opportunities should be inclusive and barrier-free. Accessibility is not only about complianceโit is about respect, dignity, and ensuring that every voice can be heard.
Together, we can help foster a more accessible and inclusive future for all Canadians.

As a mediator, it often happens like this:
Two people walk into a room carrying the same conflictโฆ but completely different stories.
One person is holding anger.
The other is holding hurt.
Both want to be heard.
Neither feels understood.
And somewhere in the middle sits a question we've come back to again and again:
๐ What does healing actually look like?
Not punishment.
Not blame.
Not โwinning.โ
Healing.
Thatโs why this upcoming training in Restorative Justice & Peacemaking Circles will help you experience practical tools that help people move from conflict to connection.
This training is ideal for:
โ๏ธ Outreach workers
โ๏ธ Community leaders
โ๏ธ Mediators & facilitators
โ๏ธ Educators
โ๏ธ Anyone passionate about restorative practices and meaningful dialogue

Nobody intended harm. Nobody woke up wanting conflict.
But assumptions piled up, communication broke down, and eventually people stopped talking with each other and started talking about each other.
Most of us are never actually taught how conflict works.
Weโre expected to โjust knowโ how to handle difficult conversations, emotional reactions, competing needs, or uncomfortable dynamics. Yet when conflict shows up, many of us avoid it, freeze, escalate, or shut down entirely.
Thatโs why we're excited to share our online course ๐จ๐ป๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐๐ผ๐ป๐ณ๐น๐ถ๐ฐ๐ this .

Conflict shows up in every workplace and what changes the outcome is how people are equipped to respond to it.
Over the years, we've seen teams shift dramatically when theyโre given practical tools to communicate more clearly, manage tension earlier, and handle difficult conversations without escalation.
Thatโs exactly what we focus on at ADR Institute of Alberta.
We offer tailored conflict resolution training designed to meet teams where they are, whether you need something ready-to-deliver or fully customized.
If your team is navigating tension, change, or simply wants stronger communication skills, this is the kind of training that creates lasting impact not just a one-time workshop.
