J + P 🤍

The best weddings aren’t always the ones that follow every tradition, they’re the ones that feel completely like the two people getting married.

J + P’s day was filled with thoughtful little details and personal choices that made the whole celebration feel unmistakably theirs.

A good reminder that your wedding doesn’t have to look like anyone else’s. Keep the traditions that matter, skip the ones that don’t, and fill the rest with the things and people you love most. 🤍

A few days of mountain air with people I love. Exactly what I needed. 🏔️

There’s something about carrying everything you need on your back, disappearing into the mountains, and having nowhere else you’re supposed to be that makes life feel a little simpler.

Especially right now.

I’m officially back to work, and if I’m being truthful, it comes with a whole bag of mixed emotions. I love what I do. I love the people I get to photograph and the stories I get to be a small part of. But stepping fully back into work after this past year also means leaving behind a chapter of life that went by far too quickly.

And somehow, I’m walking straight into what is shaping up to be the busiest fall of my life.

I wouldn’t have it any other way. ✨

Before the craziness really begins, I needed this. Mountain air. Tired legs. Good conversations. Laughing with people I love. Waking up surrounded by peaks and remembering just how lucky I am to have a life filled with so many things I care deeply about.

And because apparently I can never really stop being a photographer, I even got to capture a little bit of my cousin’s love while we were up there (my other session on the mountain top will be posted soon). ❤️

Turns out, even when I’m trying to take a break from photography, photographing the people I love in the places I love doesn’t really feel like work.

Here’s to a full heart, a full calendar, and one very busy fall ahead. 🤍

🤍 S + C 🤍

A wedding day tucked into the mountains, surrounded by rushing water, endless views and the people who mattered most.

This day was intimate, intentional and completely true to them. From quiet moments beside the river to windswept veils and sunset light across the peaks, every part of it held so much connection.

The mountains were breathtaking, but the way these two looked at each other was still the best view.

Can you spot the moose that joined us for golden hour? 🫎

What makes a photograph priceless?

Is it the camera?
The location?
The perfect light?

After photographing for over a decade, I’ve learned that none of those are the answer.

A photograph becomes priceless because time passes.
The hugs become memories.
The laughter becomes stories.
The people we love grow older.
And one day, the photographs become part of our family’s history.

This weekend, I’m honoured to be speaking at the Calgary Stampede Art Show alongside the incredible exhibitions from Professional Photographers of Canada and the World Photographic Cup.

My presentation, Beyond the Lens: The Art of Remembering, is about why photography matters, the value of experience, and how great photographers don’t just capture what a moment looked like, they preserve what it felt like.

If you’re wandering through Stampede, I’d love for you to stop by, experience the artwork, and say hello.

Because beautiful photographs are wonderful...But meaningful photographs last forever. ❤️

B + S ✨

One of my favourite parts of any wedding day is sneaking away for a few minutes during golden hour.

Not just because the light is beautiful (although it absolutely is), but because it gives my couples a chance to slow down and reconnect. The ceremony is over, the reception is in full swing, and for a few quiet moments, it’s just the two of them again.

No timelines. No distractions. No guests needing their attention.

Just a chance to take a breath, soak it all in, and remember what the day is really about.

And somehow, that’s when the magic happens.

The soft glow of the setting sun, the excitement of being newly married, and those genuine moments together create some of the most meaningful photographs of the entire day. ✨

Golden hour isn’t just about beautiful light—it’s about giving couples a moment to be present with each other in the middle of one of the busiest days of their lives. And the photos? They’re simply the beautiful reminder of how it felt. 💛

I’ve known Jesse for my whole life. We grew up together, shared countless memories, and somewhere along the way the Young’s (Jesse’s family) became family, and Jesse became like a brother to me.

Watching him get down on one knee and ask the love of his life to spend forever with him was one of the most beautiful moments I’ve ever witnessed. Seeing the look on Alyssa’s face, the happiness in Jesse’s eyes, and the love they share reminded me how beautiful and special it is to find your person.

Standing there in Canmore, surrounded by the mountains, it felt like time slowed down for a moment. Not because of the scenery, but because of what was happening right in front of me, the beginning of a new chapter for two people who are meant to walk through life side by side.

Thank you both for letting me be a part of such an unforgettable moment. ✨

My heart is so full. Here’s to forever, to unconditional love, and to the beautiful life you’ll build together. ❤️💍

Congratulations, Alyssa & Jesse. I love you both.❤️

A little Edmonton appreciation post. ❤️

One of my favourite things about being a photographer is finding beauty in the city we call home. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, Edmonton has no shortage of incredible locations for photos.

And T & J make this one extra special. They were some of the very first people to trust me to capture their wedding day, and I’ll always be grateful for that. ✨

Unpopular opinion:
your wedding photos should still look beautiful in 20 years.

Not just trendy right now.

I know the brown/yellow filters are in.
I know the super blurry photos are everywhere.
I know social media loves what feels “cool” for five seconds.

But when your kids are looking through your wedding album someday, I promise they are not going to care what preset was trending.

They are going to care about seeing you.
Your faces clearly.
Your emotions honestly.
Your people and colours exactly as they were.

And listen, I’m not against creativity at all. I LOVE movement. I love art. I love intentional blur when it adds feeling to a moment. But there’s a difference between artistic storytelling… and editing or shooting in a way that won’t age well.

You deserve photographs that hold the test of time.
Photographs that still feel beautiful decades from now.
Photographs that don’t make you say, “wow that editing trend really got us.”

My goal has never been to create photos that look like everyone else’s feed.

It’s to create photographs that feel timeless, emotional, and real, long after the trends disappear. 🤍

One of my favourite parts about being a photographer is that it has taken me to some of the most beautiful places in the world… with some of the most beautiful people.

This trip reminded me how lucky I am to do what I do. To chase light through the mountains, photograph genuine connection, and document people exactly as they are in places that make you feel completely in awe of the world around you.

Photography has never just been about photos for me. It’s about the people beside me. The stories. The adventure. The feeling.

The greatest gift this career has given me isn’t awards or recognition. It’s the ability to experience the world through people and moments that mean something.

And honestly… photographing beautiful people in beautiful places will never stop inspiring me. 🤍

One of the best things you can do for beautiful wedding photos?
Trust your photographer. 🤍

You don’t need a mountain view or a destination wedding to create magic. Some of the most beautiful images happen in the most unexpected places when you have someone who knows how to see light, movement, connection, and moments differently.

Edmonton honestly has so many hidden gems if you know where to look. A quiet patch of trees, dreamy evening light, interesting architecture, a random alley with perfect texture… it’s never just about the location. It’s about knowing how to use it.

The best photos happen when couples stop worrying about where they are and start focusing on each other.

That’s when the magic happens ✨
