This week, members of our Calgary Team had the opportunity to spend the day volunteering with the Calgary Food Bank — giving back to the community we’re proud to call home. In addition to collecting and donating approximately five bags of food, our team members contributed in a variety of meaningful ways. Two team members worked in the produce department preparing boxes for clients, while two others served as warehouse shoppers, gathering food items based on individual client needs. Over the course of our shift, we helped support approximately 200 clients accessing the Food Bank.

It was an incredible and rewarding experience that gave us a firsthand look at the vital work being done to support individuals and families in our community. We’re grateful for the opportunity to come together as a team, lend a hand, and make a difference.

What makes a region a place where businesses want to invest, grow and stay?

At Qualico Properties, that question connects directly to our work: developing and managing commercial spaces that support businesses and contribute to thriving communities.

On October 15, our Senior Vice President, Mike Saunders, will join the inaugural Regional Economic Development Summit (REDS) to discuss the conditions that turn regional potential into investment and development.

The panel, “Investing in the Region’s Future,” will explore how policy, infrastructure and market conditions shape investment decisions. Mike will join Raka Josan of Josan Properties and Scott Argent of Stantec, with Jeremy Deeks of CBRE moderating.

Hosted by the University of Alberta’s Cities Institute and CREDA Edmonton Region, REDS connects research with the practical challenges and opportunities facing commercial real estate and community building.

We look forward to hearing Mike speak on this panel and can’t wait to see you there.

We were proud to host a community gathering this week in honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, in partnership with Boyle Street Community Services | YEG.

The afternoon featured a formal program that included Elder teachings and performances by the Dancing Cree. It was an opportunity for reflection, learning, and connection within the downtown community.

Indigenous vendors lined the lobby of EPCOR Tower, while traditional foods were prepared and shared for everyone to experience. Attendees also had opportunities to deepen their knowledge through interactive teaching tables and guest speakers.

We were honoured to collaborate on such a meaningful event and provide an opportunity for our community to come together, expand their understanding and reflect on the importance of reconciliation.

The Edmonton team hit the trails last Friday for the Tour de CREDA! We enjoyed a great day of cycling, likely one of the last beautiful days of the year, and connected with peers and coworkers over coffee and lunch.

It was the perfect way to wrap up a Friday. A huge thank you to CREDA Edmonton Region for putting on such an awesome event!

Friday was Qualico’s Annual Slo-Pitch Tournament — and what a day it was! Members of the Properties Team faced off against our other business units in a friendly yet competitive battle on the diamond.

The team had an absolute blast, though they were definitely feeling a little sore the next day!

We’ll see you next year!

Last week, Andrea and Hannah headed to The Quarry for the Jackie Parker Memorial Golf Classic. While the morning started off with a bit of rain, the skies cleared up and the golfers were treated to a decent afternoon. The Grey Cup made its rounds and stopped by our hole — so of course, we had to snap a picture!

While no hole-in-ones were made, there were plenty of close shots and great energy on the course. We were proud to be a sponsor of this year’s event and loved chatting with the players throughout the day.
