Today marks the first day of National Indigenous History Month, a month dedicated to celebrating the rich history, culture, diversity and contributions of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit (FNMI) peoples.

National Indigenous History Month offers the opportunity to learn more about the first peoples of these lands, their achievements, lived experiences and the role those stories play in the evolving Canada.

Sustainability challenges are complex and solving them requires interdisciplinary expertise.

The Master of Sustainability at the University of Alberta offers five concentrations to choose from:
1. Climate Mitigation and Adaptation
2. Environmental Policy
3. Collaborative Governance
4. The Built Environment
5. Consumption and Production (launching Fall 2027)

These pathways prepare graduates for impactful roles across public, private, nonprofit and international sectors.

Working to improve the application of AI in interpreting huge amounts of data gathered by satellites, Abigail Azari, an assistant professor in the University of Alberta's Faculty of Science and Faculty of Engineering, wants to help answer important scientific questions about what can affect our planetary neighbourhood, like space weather.

Azari is one of 25 new faculty members focused on advancing AI research, announced last week at the Upper Bound conference hosted by the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii).
