Guramatunhu (The Traveller), by Mbira Renaissance 07/10/2017

This is the story of a family vehicle named 'Guramatunhu' aka Gura,
(translated: The Traveller / Conqueror of Towns). Gura, a faithful servant, for a decade and a half, carried members of a very large, extended family across Zimbabwe to various family functions: weddings; funerals; road trips; doctors visits; vacations; work visits- often over mountains, through rivers and rough, bumpy, dust roads.

Dedicated to Ranga Zinyemba and Alice Zinyemba- the original owners of Guramatunhu,on the occasion of their 40th wedding anniversary, without whom the story of Gura would have never been. Played it for the first time at their anniversary in Borrowdale, Zimbabwe last month.

Many thanks to the Mbira Renaissance bandmates for the arrangement, backing vocals and guitar solo. Special thanks to Munya Mataruse for his production work and sprinkling some magic!

Hey all, I was meant to co-host last night's EMCN Rise awards at Northlands with City TV weather host Josh Classen, however I want to thank the Edmonton Mennonite Centre for Newcomers for showing solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Ft McMurray who have been affected by the wildfire disaster. The event has been postponed and all food was donated to emergency relief shelter at the Northlands. Like many others in Alberta, Josh and I have also found ourselves working round the clock to help where we can. If you would like to volunteer, please see the Edmonton Emergency Relief Social Services website for details on how you can help.
