Congratulations to Education PhD student Tojiniso Olimnazarova on receiving a 2026 Margaret Brine Graduate Scholarship from the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW).

The Margaret Brine Graduate Scholarship is awarded to female graduate students at the University of Alberta who have shown strong academic achievement and a dedication to leadership, education, and meaningful community involvement aligned with the values of CFUW.

Originally from Tajikistan, Tojiniso is conducting research on translanguaging and language policy in multilingual educational contexts in Tajikistan.

"My study explores how language practices shape learning, participation, and identity for speakers of underrepresented languages. By highlighting the experiences of linguistically marginalized communities, this research contributes to discussions about more inclusive and equitable approaches to education," she says.

"I am honoured to receive the Margaret Brine Scholarship from the CFUW, an organization dedicated to advancing education, human rights, and the status of women."

This , we're amplifying First Nations, Inuit and Métis voices and taking some time to ground ourselves on the land in which we're situated.
